WHATS YOUR MOTIVE BEHIND WHAT YOU DO
INTRODUCTION
SOMETIMES I WONDER WHEN WE DO THINGS IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD DO WE WANT TO BE RECOGNIZE BY OTHER’S OR DO WE WANT OTHER’S TO BELIEVE THAT WE ARE MORE SPIRITUAL THAN WHAT WE SEEM TO BE.
JESUS IN CHAPTER 6 OF THE BOOK OF MATTHEWS CONTINUES WITH HIS SERMON ON THE MOUNT AND ADDRESS THE IMPORTANCE OF NOT BEING SEEN OF MEN, BUT OF GOD.
BEING SEEN OF MEN.
HAVING GLORY OF MEN
BEING SEEN OF GOD.
MATTHEW 6:1 “Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.”
JESUS SAY WE MUST BE CAREFUL HOW WE DO OUR RIGHTEOUS DEEDS BEFORE OTHER’S , BECAUSE IT COULD BE A INDICATION THAT WE ARE LOOKING TO BE SEEN BY OTHER’S.
WHEN WE SEEK THIS ATTENTION FROM MEN INSTEAD OF GOD, IT PUT THE ATTENTION ON YOU AND THEIR IS NO ROOM FOR GOD TO BE SEEN.
YOU WANT PEOPLE TO SEE THE CHRIST IN YOU NOT YOUR FLESH.
BECAUSE WHEN YOU WANT TO BE SEEN IT’S NOT COMING FROM A SINCERE PLACE.
II CORINTHIANS 9:9 “(as it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.”
WHATEVER JESUS DONE ON EARTH FOR OTHER’S HE NEVER BROUGHT ATTENTION TO HIMSELF BECAUSE HIS WILL WAS FOR HIM TO DO THE WILL OF THE FATHER.
AND SOMETIMES THIS MEAN i DON’T NEED A PAT ON THE BACK TO BE RECOGNIZE FOR THE THINGS i DO.
WHEN YOU NEED THAT PAT FROM SOMEONE, YOU ALREADY RECEIVED YOUR REWARD, BUT NOT FROM GOD.
2.HAVING GLORY OF MEN.
MOST PEOPLE WHO SEEK ATTENTION FROM OTHER’S MUST BE HEARD.
JESUS SAID DO NOT SOUND A TRUMPET BEFORE THEE, AS THE HYPOCRITES DO IN THE SYNAGOGUES AND IN THE STREETS, THAT THEY MAY HAVE GLORY OF MEN.
WHATEVER GOOD DEED YOU DO UNTO OTHER’S IT SHOULD BE BETWEEN YOU AND THAT PERSON.
MANY PEOPLE HAVE DONE SOMETHING FOR OTHER’S JUST TO SAY THEY DONE IT.
AND THEIR HEART WAS NOT GENUINE WHEN THEY GAVE IT.
THEY PUT ON AN APPEARANCE TO HAVE RELIGION OR RIGHTEOUSNESS, BUT DEEP WITHIN THEMSELVES THEIR HEARTS ARE WICKED.
ROMANS 12:8 “or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.”
3. BEING SEEN OF GOD.
MATTHEW 6:3-4 “But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: that thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.”
THE LEFT HAND IS THE ONE THAT NEEDS A LOT OF ATTENTION, SELF SEEKING, WHEREAS THE RIGHT HAND , IS THE HAND OF RIGHTEOUSNESS WHICH GIVES FROM A HEART OF LOVE.
WHEN YOUR MOTIVES ARE RIGHT, YOU ARE NOT CONCERN ABOUT WHO IS AROUND WHEN YOU ABOUT TO BLESS SOMEONE.
BECAUSE THE FATHER WHICH SEETH IN SECRET HIMSELF SHALL REWARD THEE OPENLY.
LUKE 14:14 “and thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.”
