I don’t know about you, but I need reminders! Alarms, lists, sticky notes, calendars, writing something on your child’s forehead – however the reminder comes, its critical in our fast-paced world to have them, otherwise we will quickly feel like we are falling behind. When it comes to our Christian faith, in many ways we can benefit from reminders too. Especially because we need them. Why? Because, if you’re anything like me, our heart forgets. It forgets how good God is. How sinful I am. How gracious God is. How much I ought to be thankful to God every moment. In many ways, that is what the ritual laws in Leviticus 11-15 is about. Although not required to be practiced by Christians today, they remind us of the same Gospel truths. The same Jesus who saves. The same Jesus who both reconciles us to God the Father. And who separates us from our sin, setting us apart as God’s treasured possession. With you come and be reminded of Jesus, the guarantor of a better covenant? (Heb 7:22).
