Opening Prayer

Matthew 6:9–13 (NKJV)
Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Psalm 12

Psalm 12:5 ESV
5 “Because the poor are plundered, because the needy groan, I will now arise,” says the Lord; “I will place him in the safety for which he longs.”

God, I need you.

Anger, pride, and violence are destroying our world. Nations rage, men and women destroy each other with their words. Everyone is working an angle to get ahead. God, we need you.
The poor need you, Lord. The poor in spirit, the ones who know they are bankrupt without your mercy. The ones with nothing, the widows, and orphans, they need you. God, I need you. Lift us out of our poverty and into the wealth of your grace and mercy.
I see you moving, Lord. You step up, you leave your throne, you step into human history, and put on human flesh. God, you leave your heavenly home for the mission field of earth. You walk the path of the cross. You are laid in a tomb and walk out alive in victory. You won the war over sin and shame. You delivered us from our our past and gave us a glorious future.

Prayer

God I will always need you. Thank you for providing me forgiveness of my sin and the hope of eternal life. Help me to honor the sacrifice of Jesus daily as I follow his example in faithful service to you. Go with me today and fill my speech and actions with your love and grace. Amen.
