Opening Prayer

Help me, sweet Jesus, gracious Master, to understand, by diligent meditation upon it, the character of your hidden life...and, in the secret closet of my heart, to treasure up the story of your most holy life and conversation.(4)

Psalm 8

Psalm 8:1 ESV
1 O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.

God’s Story

God’s majesty and redemptive love are on display in the creation, the Exodus, the nation of Israel, the coming Messiah, and final community of God.
God’s story, his plan, was worked out from the beginning of the world. Adam and Eve could look into a night sky, as did Noah, and Abram, and see the story of God’s redemption written in the very stars. His fingers wove his story into the tapestry of the heavens. The dominion of this world will be given to those who inherit his image as part of his family.
God’s story, his plan, is worked out in the most unusual of ways. From babes and infants the plan comes into being. There is no enemy of heaven that will stand. No god-kings that will be able to oppose Him who reigns on high.
God’s story, his plan, is a realized kingdom through the comng of Jesus. Through the Messiah redemptions price is paid, the property of God is reclaimed, and his kingdom established forever. The family tents are opened wide to let in all who love the Lord.

Prayer

God, you are sovereign over all the earth. Everyone owes you everything. You have never left me alone. You didn’t abandon me when I went astray. You loved me more. Thank you for sending Jesus as my savior. Help me to never forget your love and mercy. God I will trust you more as I shelter in your love. Amen.
