I Thessalonians 5:1-11
We live in a culture that is continuously evolving and tumultuous.
We all encounter sorrow, uncertainty, and heartache on a regular basis.
Natural calamities, such as hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, and wildfires, seem to strike on a regular basis.
We all prefer comfort over suffering.

We would nearly always choose comfort over pain if given the option.
However, suffering is an unavoidable part of life.
When people face difficulties in life, they seek comfort in a variety of forms, including shopping to yoga, to drugs to food.
Their treatment options may differ, but their goal is the same: to relieve pain.
Unfortunately, many people seek comfort in the wrong places.
As Christians, we have the wonderful privilege of having the Holy Spirit within us, who comforts us when we are in need.
As Jesus was about to depart from His disciples, He promised that He would send the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, to dwell inside them.
Today, those of us who have received Christ as our Saviour have the Holy Spirit within us, who comforts us when we are in suffering or facing adversity.
Moreover, God has given us His Word's promises, which assure us that we are on the right path.
These promises are comforting.
Today, we're going to look at a text that contains a promise that God says will offer us comfort, as well as a fact that we may use to comfort one another.
