Today we are continuing with our series, Christian Life Principles.
Webster’s Dictionary’s defines the word principle as: a comprehensive and fundamental law, doctrine, or assumption; a rule or code of conduct.
The first principle we looked at was the principle of laying down our lives for others the same way Jesus laid His life down for us.
Last week we looked at the principle of giving and we found that giving encompasses much more than finances!
Today we are looking at the principle of Staying Connected to God.
The reason we have to stay connected is simple and we find it in
In order for us to make our tree good and bring forth good fruit, we need to stay connected to God.
So let’s get started!
Staying Connected to God is a Choice!
The one thing that makes us different from every other species on the planet is that God has given us the free will to choose to stay connected to Him.
He never forces us to serve Him, we have the ability to choose.
Now there are consequences for choosing wrong, and there are blessings for doing good, but we decide!
Staying Connected to God Sets Us Free!
We stay connected to God because it sets us free from guilt and condemnation about our past mistakes and failures.
That connection sets us free from the temptation of sin!
This freedom is a great blessing that no one but Jesus can give us!
Connection Helps Us be Doers of His Word!
We cannot build a house or a building without a plan.
We have to connect with architects and contractors and financing, and we need to stay connected with them throughout the planning and the building process.
Anything that is not clear can literally cause the project to fail.
It’s the same with the Word of God and staying connected with the One Who is the Word made flesh, Jesus.
If we don’t do this, we will not be able to “build” a life that can withstand the uncertainties of life.
We will collapse when the storms of life hit.
But if we stay connected, we will weather those storms!
Doing the Word Gives Us a Connection for Eternity!
The reason we need to get this principle of connection with God is because the world we live in has so many things vying for our attention.
It can come to the point where we neglect our Connecting with God and in turn even jeopardize our eternal life.
We never want to get to the point where we are connected to church, to others, to community clubs, to important people but not connected to God.
Stay connected!
