Worship Call 0660 The ruler over all

There is an unseen realm. There are demons and those powers which many make themselves unaware of that are on the move to disrupt and to throw stumbling blocks down to detour the plan of God. for when their time comes these creatures will spend 1000 years in the abyss and the rest of eternity in the lake of fire. For now they sneak and scheme in the darkness.

What shall we do as Christians concerning the presence of demons?

Ignore the?

Say, “if we don’t bother them they won’t bother us”

Is that the case? Or are we giving the enemy a free ride to scheme and to maneuver to thwart God’s plan for our lives?

This is another fine day in the Lord.

Luke 4:33–34 (NASB95) — 33 In the synagogue there was a man possessed by the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice, 34 “Let us alone! What business do we have with each other, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”

What was this demon doing in this assembly?

Where was this assembly spiritually speaking that allowed for an unwanted guest?

For the presence of such a creature to remain, one might suspect that there was enough darkness for the spirit to hide in.

Point of observation: Just because one calls himself a Christian, or call a place a church or Synagogue, does not necessarily mean that Demonism is off limits, that is where there is enough darkness to hide in.

I believe it may be a sad commentary on this synagogue to have a place within its midst that the demon could hang out in.

It seems that this demon was dormant that the time when the authority from heaven comes to bring in the light that exposes the creature.

Notice the loudness, the crying out that seems to be the characteristic of the demons. The Shrillness. We might call it hysteria. Might it be as a sign of discomfort as in a tortured spirit, especially in the midst of righteousness. Was it hatred as we have witnessed the hysteria of others who were in rage even over minor things?

Mark 1:23 (NASB95) — 23 Just then there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,

Matthew 8:28 (NASB95) — 28 When He came to the other side into the country of the Gadarenes, two men who were demon-possessed met Him as they were coming out of the tombs. They were so extremely violent that no one could pass by that way.

Luke 8:28 (NASB95) — 28 Seeing Jesus, he cried out and fell before Him, and said in a loud voice, “What business do we have with each other, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You, do not torment me.”

Luke 4:41 (NASB95) — 41 Demons also were coming out of many, shouting, “You are the Son of God!” But rebuking them, He would not allow them to speak, because they knew Him to be the Christ.

There is a spectrum of environment in regard to relationship with the Lord.

On one side there is a gentleness and quietness of spirit.

Psalm 62:1 (NASB95) — 1 My soul waits in silence for God only; From Him is my salvation.

Psalm 131:2 (NASB95) — 2 Surely I have composed and quieted my soul; Like a weaned child rests against his mother, My soul is like a weaned child within me.

1 Peter 3:4 (NASB95) — 4 but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.

On the other side of the spectrum there is shrieking crying out and yelling. Which is an indication that either we are or the person or persons we are dealing with are far removed from the righteousness of God and the very presence of righteousness is an assault on this creature.

As for individual lives James says

James 4:7–8 (NASB95) — 7 Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

The demon cries out

Luke 4:34 (NASB95) — 34 “Let us alone!

The passage began by indicating the fact that there is but one unclean spirit. We find else where that one was possessed by multiple demons.

When this demon mentions Us, I believe that he is speaking on behalf of the evil unseen realm. Those that reside with him in the darkness. This in their twisted minds is their dominion. Like many souls who treat God as an intruder. Such as when one becomes a believer in a marriage when the spouse is an unbeliever or a family of unbelievers. Or when a Christian enters into a college classroom that the professor is ready to chase out any remnant out of the youth.

No, this type of hostility is not just seen by demons but by all who love the darkness and when exposed to the light they are enraged.

Take note, there is much more going on, in the angelic conflict area than what the eye meets. I have learned over the passed few years when it comes to the angelic conflict and the unseen realm that the field of battle is much wider than the human realm.

The hostile world against God is the way it is today due not from one but three rebellions.

1. The Fall of man Genesis 3

2. The antediluvian rebellion Genesis 6

3. Babel Genesis 11

The creature possessing volition, both angelic and human, determined to become their own independent agent.

God is sovereign over all. There is not a signal molecule in the universe that God does have rule over. But the rebellious creature thinks otherwise.

Rebellion never produces order but Chaos. And the further the creature falls deeper into the rebellion the darker his environment comes.

God is also a Just God, and though Satan temporarily remains as the ruler of this dark world, the Lord is at work putting an end to Satan’s hold. Reversing the unrighteous effects that was due to the rebellion. The effects from the Fall of man, from the antediluvian rebellion and from the Babel rebellion.

Luke 4:34 (NASB95) — 34 Have You come to destroy us?

The clock is ticking and with every sinner that repents Satan loses ground. When the believer is brought by God to maturity, Satan loses ground.

Like when a new neighborhood goes up in a once forested area the animals that lived there are squeezed out and must either adapt or move.

It is not the light or the righteous that are on the defensive but on the offensive. It is the darkness that is on the ropes on the defensive as light of the Lord is pressing them out.

Point there is no need for the Christian to be threatened or stand down.

On the contrary, it is for the Christian to double down the enemy is on the run.

These creatures are aware that they are on borrowed time.

Matthew 8:29 (NASB95) — 29 And they cried out, saying, “What business do we have with each other, Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?”

Matthew 10:28 (NASB95) — 28 “Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

James 2:19 (NASB95) — 19 You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder.

Luke 4:34 (NASB95) — 34 “I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”

In the land the demons see Jesus as the holy one. But Jesus is not satisfied with only taking the land of Israel promised to the Jews but yet is his own possession but also taking back the entire world to put it once again under the reign of man.

Outside of the region the demons refer to Jesus a little differently as

The most high refers to the one who is over all. Of every territorial angelic being that governs over the world. it is God who is over it all. And the demons tremble at the fact that he is reclaiming it.

Their days are numbered.

Luke 4:36–37 (NASB95) — 36 And amazement came upon them all, and they began talking with one another saying, “What is this message? For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits and they come out.” 37 And the report about Him was spreading into every locality in the surrounding district.

How much power do we as Christians have over demons?

I can’t tell you.

Some say we still have the power to cast out demons.

Is there still a place for Exorcism?

I don’t know.

But I do know that we are of the one who sits at the right hand of the Father. Who hears our prayers. He has the command over all of the unseen realm.

When we recognize the spiritual warfare and the unseen enemy then our prayers can directed to God in that regard, to give us the wisdom to deal with such and for the Lord to put hedge of protection around ourselves our love ones our spouses our children even our communities and schools.

The same Jesus that told this demon to shut up and go away is the same Jesus that is sitting at God’s right hand and rules over all.
