INTRO

What is love?
Our world seeks love, but seeks in all the wrong places.
What our world says is love is nothing of the sort and leaves people empty.
It’s important that as Christians we flee the worldly things and pursue Real Love as we pursue a love for Jesus.
John 13:34–35 ESV
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
John 14:15–24 ESV
15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. 18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. 21 Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.” 22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?” 23 Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. 24 Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father’s who sent me.
2 John 6–9 ESV
6 And this is love, that we walk according to his commandments; this is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, so that you should walk in it. 7 For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist. 8 Watch yourselves, so that you may not lose what we have worked for, but may win a full reward. 9 Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.

3 REALITIES OF LOVE:

1) REAL LOVE…IS SELFLESS (Jn 13:34-35)

2) REAL LOVE…HONORS GOD’S WORD (Jn 14:15-24)

3) REAL LOVE…PERSEVERES (Jn 14:23-24; 2 Jn 6-9)

CLOSING

It’s time we stop looking for love in all the wrong places and fix our eyes on Jesus, obeying His word and living by His example.
Do you know Jesus today? He shows you REAL LOVE. He invites you to REAL LOVE.
