From The Mouth Of God

Deuteronomy 6:1-3 (NIV)

1These are the commands, decrees and laws the Lord your God directed me to teach you to observe in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess, 2so that you, your children and their children after them may fear the Lord your God as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give you, and so that you may enjoy long life. 3Hear, O Israel, and be careful to obey so that it may go well with you and that you may increase greatly in a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the Lord, the God of your fathers, promised you.

        I.            Introduction: Just as the people of Israel needed to be reminded of  the importance of God’s Word, so it is that we should remember that “Man does not live from Bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord” (Deuteronomy 8:3; Luke 4:4).

VII.            Conclusion: Never take the Word of God lightly. It is life to you. It carries the command to obey as well as the promise of blessing. In the same way, it carries warning as well as encouragement. We do well to live by it, and we do well by our children if we pass it on to them that they too may live by it, for man lives on every word that comes from God’s mouth. It is life to us.
