Introduction

It’s hard to imagine that over 2000 years have gone bye and Jesus still hasn’t showed up!
This study is to try and get a handle on where is Jesus?
It’s been over 2000 years when the Angel said to the disciples,
Acts 1:11 NASB95PARA
They also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”
Then, in Rev 1:7 we see a prelude of Jesus coming back, but not yet. This was written by the Apostle John on the Island of Pat mos A.D. 95 and now it’s A.D. 2022 and still no Jesus?
Actually, it’s not until in Rev 19:11-16 that Jesus returns [King of King’s & Lord of Lord’s/His eyes blazing fire] to the earth,”when ever that might be?”
In Fact, Note, in Matt 24:36 account says,” No one knows when Jesus will return-only God the Father knows and in 2 Pet 3:8 “with the Lord one day is like a Thousand Years---but, count on it--- it will certainly happen!
How do I Know,”Because the Bible said,” it to be so!”
Jesus Return, also known in Greek “Parousian” This is called,” the Second Coming” at the very end of the Great Tribulation period, spoken by Dan 9:24-27 which prophecies this event!
Now as we back up in time, Jesus’ first arrival, was B.C. 4 at His Birth Matt 1:18-25 and also prophesied by Isa 7:14
How indescribable to of been foretold as far back B.C. 700’s when Isaiah prophesied during the region of the four kings of Judah:
1. Uzziah/Azariah (787–736 bc);
2. Jotham (coregent 756–741 bc);
3. Ahaz (741–736 bc as coregent; 736–725 bc as sole ruler);
4. Hezekiah (725–697 bc) (Larsson, “Chronology,” 224–35).
Well, we had lots of sign post of when Jesus was about to be born, by several Prophets of old, but it took almost 1000 years to be fulfilled. Now as we wait for His return, it’s been over 2000 years since the sign post have been set.

Body

There are roughly 30 + verse that tell about Our Precious Lords Second Coming - like from Acts 1:11 when the Angel spoke to the Disciples on the shore of Galilee, some time soon after Jesus was crucified on the cross, dead and buried, only to raise three days latter, we know as His Resurrection-He Rose from the Dead! This is the foundational doctrine of Christianity! Matt 12:40, 1 Cor 15:3-8, Rev 1:17-18
Now, not to confuse my reader or keep you wondering where I’m going with this study, but how can over two thousand years go by when it seemed as though Jesus meant He will be back in their life time when the Angel said,”Jesus would come back, as you [This is the Angels taking to the Disciples] saw him leave, taken in a cloud.” Acts 1:9 as if they will literary see Him come back in a cloud in their life time!
Turn with me to Rev 1:7 Because John wrote this well after the very disciples who witnessed Jesus leaving in a cloud, had long been Martyred for their faith in Jesus around 50-60 A.D. and are no longer alive to see Jesus coming back in a Cloud [at least from earth that is] as it reads in both Acts 1:9-11, Rev 1:7
We must then, assume the Angel did not mean in this Generation nor did John mean when he wrote those words in Rev 1:7 -I believe we can all agree about this, because it’s over 2000 years since John wrote Revelation.
Further-more, to add more fuel onto the suspension of those words written by John In Rev 1:1-2, 7 when it says,”I am coming soon!” A.D. 95
We also then read in Rev 22:12 “I am coming Quickly” followed by the very last words of the whole bible, which reads, Rev 22:20 “I am coming quickly!” Wow, again I say,” Jesus is coming soon, very quickly!
Well, soon and quickly to the bible and soon and quickly in my book must mean two very different meaning. Moreover, when I look up the Greek words for Soon or Quickly in these texts- means exactly what it means in my book,”pertaining to a very short extent of time between two points or intervals of time.”
So, what the heck? Where is Jesus? Why is it taking so long? He said, “He is coming soon, quickly.” Yet, like I said earlier in this study, “It’s over 2000 years” since these words have been written!
Although, because of the unthinkable thought of death that comes for us all--- I must be like every other believer who wants to be part of the rapture 1 Thess 4:16-17 really, ‘who wants to die?’ And yet, like everyone, wondering what Soon and Quickly means in God’s Book verse’s our understanding as we watch generations come and go and still no Jesus!
I’ll never forget when I first became a Believer and picked up the bible for the first time or at least the first time the words made sense to me. I began in Genesis and when I got to Gen 5:24 when it read,’Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.”
This was my first experience or should say, sense of what it meant to be rapture and thought how wonderful it would be not to experience death! Also, how wonderful to have Creator God choose us, count us Worthy, to come and get us out of here and bring us to where He is!
Yet, those people in Genesis thought to the book of Jude, since then, there have been very few from the O.T. taken up like Enoch, Elijah-maybe Moses?
Then in the N.T. Jesus was taken, but unlike those before Him-He was resurrected on His own power.
Paul and John had out of body experience’s-Paul to the third Heaven and John in Revelation
Since then-to my knowledge, there hasn’t been another person taken up like Enoch or Elijah- believers come and go and still no Jesus return to take us to be with Him, no rapture, no escaping the inevitable-physical death, a certainty or is it?

Conclusion

Are we close to Jesus’es return? The Bible is clear that as the day draws near to the Second Coming of Jesus, and which would mean the Church has been or close to getting rapture
2 Pet 3:3-4 tells us that in the “last days mockers will come mocking, following their own [UN-godly,] lustful desires saying, where is the promise of His Coming?”
We know Israel became a Nation May, 14, 1948
First Sign: Israel the most significant indication in our generation that the coming of the Lord is very near. Daniel 9 will be the passage from which this first and most significant sign emerges.
Yes, Jesus is taking longer than my book of what I think soon or quickly means, but in 2 Pet 3:8-9 in Jesus’es book, it mean patients and hope for those who aren’t saved and have a chance to be saved and escape eternal hell and damnation!
This put’s a new perspective on the meaning,’Soon or Quickly’
