Crucified Savior

Scripture Text: Matthew 27:11-54 (NIV)

        I.            Introduction: The Trial of the Ages

II.            Condemned, Our Savior Stood Innocent and We Stood Guilty: The Great Injustice

III.            Rejected, Our Savior Stood Approved, We Were Condemned: The Great Exchange

IV.            Humiliated, Our Savior Was Honorable, We stood Disgraced; The Great Insult

      V.            Crucified, He was the one who Suffered, The Punishment was Ours: The Great Agony

VI.            Dying, Our Savior Gave His Life, That We Might Live: The Great Savior

VII.            Conclusion: In the trial of Jesus, it is not really Jesus who is on trial, it is us. He puts us on trial as he challenges us to believe in Him. Will we reject the savior? Will we make a mockery of him in a pretense of worship instead of the real thing? Will his suffering be in vain for us by our refusal to accept His grace? Will His agony drive us to our knees in agony over our own sin that put him upon that cross? Only as we confess Him as savior. Only as we apply the blood of the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world to the doorposts of our dead hearts; Only as we worship Him in Spirit and in truth, can we be acquitted. Only by the blood we are guilty of can we be saved. The Lord has laid upon Him the iniquity of us all, and by his stripes we are healed. Hallelujah, what a savior.
