2 Peter 1:3-4 (NIV)

3His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

I. Introduction:

Resources have to be used to be effective.

II. Believe In The Power Of God: He Is Able To Deliver From Sin

A. Power That is Divine

B. Power For Holy Living

C. Power From Knowing Christ

III. Believe In The Promises Of God: He Is Willing To Deliver From Sin

A.    Promises Of  Great Value

B.    Promises Of Sharing The Divine Nature

C.    Promises Of Overcoming Evil Desires

IV.   Conclusion:

Some choose to believe God will not deliver them from sin so they have an excuse to harbor it. Their desire for sin is greater than their desire to be delivered from it. It is somewhat like the lover who says “Stop. Don’t.  Stop. Don’t. Stop. Don’t stop. Don’t stop.” You have the power and promises of God to be delivered from sin. Are you willing? If you are, God is able and willing. He is all you need.
