Trying to make sense of it all
Mission: an important assignment carried out for political, religious, or commercial purposes, typically involving travel.
Matthew 6:9–13 KJV 1900
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Matthew 6:10 HCSB
10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Love what Steve said last week about vision. Vision is revelation. The Holy Spirit allows us to see more of God’s vision.
Vision is God revealing His plans to us
He says pray this Your Kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
Is God’s Kingdom of Heaven already present on Earth or is it something we must bring to Earth?
Creation
In Creation, What did God say after he created everything?
Genesis 1:31 HCSB
31 God saw all that He had made, and it was very good. Evening came and then morning: the sixth day.
We see God’s presence (Kingdom of Heaven) throughout the Old Testament.
What was the ultimate act of bringing Heaven to Earth so far in History?
Jesus, that is God incarnate or (God in the flesh) coming to Earth
Jesus came was born of a Virgin
He lived
He died
He rose again
I find it very interesting and it builds my faith that Jesus after resurrection did not immediately go to Heaven.

The Resurrection Validates the Lordship of Jesus

If Jesus is not raised, then he is just another prophet. Had Jesus not been raised it is a tragic end to the story. Jesus is a liar if he is not raised.
The resurrection of Jesus shows that He is the Savior of the World. He is ruler supreme. He is the Lord of lords. He is the King of kings
Luke 24:19–24 HCSB
19 “What things?” He asked them. So they said to Him, “The things concerning Jesus the Nazarene, who was a Prophet powerful in action and speech before God and all the people, 20 and how our chief priests and leaders handed Him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified Him. 21 But we were hoping that He was the One who was about to redeem Israel. Besides all this, it’s the third day since these things happened. 22 Moreover, some women from our group astounded us. They arrived early at the tomb, 23 and when they didn’t find His body, they came and reported that they had seen a vision of angels who said He was alive. 24 Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they didn’t see Him.”
Luke 24:27 HCSB
27 Then beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He interpreted for them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures.
Luke 24:31 HCSB
31 Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized Him, but He disappeared from their sight.
Luke 24:33–35 HCSB
33 That very hour they got up and returned to Jerusalem. They found the Eleven and those with them gathered together, 34 who said, “The Lord has certainly been raised, and has appeared to Simon!” 35 Then they began to describe what had happened on the road and how He was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.
Jesus appearing on Earth after resurrection certainly built faith in the Resurrection
(that is Jesus was seen by others and caused them to believe in the Resurrection),
but I believe it also gives us value to mission on Earth.
If the Earth was of no value, then he would have just been out of hear. (Exit plan only)
Jesus not only appeared and showed his resurrected self to others but he also gave instructions.
These instructions are very clear in Matthew
Matthew 28:18–20 HCSB
18 Then Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Resurrections does not mean escaping from the world. It means mission to the world based on Jesus’s Lordship over the World

Sin and Death Don’t rule over those who believe Jesus is Lord

2 Passages
Romans 6:1–11 HCSB
1 What should we say then? Should we continue in sin so that grace may multiply? 2 Absolutely not! How can we who died to sin still live in it? 3 Or are you unaware that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in a new way of life. 5 For if we have been joined with Him in the likeness of His death, we will certainly also be in the likeness of His resurrection. 6 For we know that our old self was crucified with Him in order that sin’s dominion over the body may be abolished, so that we may no longer be enslaved to sin, 7 since a person who has died is freed from sin’s claims. 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with Him, 9 because we know that Christ, having been raised from the dead, will not die again. Death no longer rules over Him. 10 For in light of the fact that He died, He died to sin once for all; but in light of the fact that He lives, He lives to God. 11 So, you too consider yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Colossians 3:1–17 HCSB
1 So if you have been raised with the Messiah, seek what is above, where the Messiah is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on what is above, not on what is on the earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with the Messiah in God. 4 When the Messiah, who is your life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory. 5 Therefore, put to death what belongs to your worldly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these, God’s wrath comes on the disobedient, 7 and you once walked in these things when you were living in them. 8 But now you must also put away all the following: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and filthy language from your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self. You are being renewed in knowledge according to the image of your Creator. 11 In Christ there is not Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave and free; but Christ is all and in all. 12 Therefore, God’s chosen ones, holy and loved, put on heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, 13 accepting one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a complaint against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you must also forgive. 14 Above all, put on love—the perfect bond of unity. 15 And let the peace of the Messiah, to which you were also called in one body, control your hearts. Be thankful. 16 Let the message about the Messiah dwell richly among you, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, and singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, with gratitude in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
