Opening Prayer
Oh Lord, our chief desire this morning before you is to be right with you.
Oh make us right with you, great Father...Grant the kiss of forgiveness to each of your children this morning, and may we feel that you are faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness; and in the joy of this, may we feel peace with you.(1)
Psalm 5
What is Prayer?
Prayer is communication.
When we pray we are asking God to enter into relationship with us, to hear, to consider, and to give attention to us.
Our day begins with the request of God.
We make our sacrifice and we watch.
We offer our time, our pride, all of our self to God.
Then we are watchful to see how God will respond.
We may see much evil around us, but that is not God.
We may hear lies and yet we know God is not in the lies.
While we watch we live out the pattern of relationship God has given us to live.
We worship, we dwell with God in communion, and we follow the way of right living.
We trust God will deal with the evil and wicked.
We know they will not win in the end.
God will overcome every evil deed and person.
God brings his protection over us.
He allows us a place and a time to lift up our voices in song.
We flourish under his care, loved by God.
Prayer
God I am privileged to call you Father.
Thank you for calling me your child.
I know that I am blessed to be able to take time every morning and each day to speak to you.
Thank you for hearing me.
You listen and I listen.
I watch to see how you will work out your plans in my life.
God help me to live by your word, trusting that your ways are always for my good.
Thank you for always being the one who is always near me and ready to listen.
Amen.
