Power to Live

Phil. 3:10

“That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death;”

Paul speaks of knowing Christ. He speaks of it experientially!

I. Power to live is found in my identification with Christ. (Rom.6:4; Col.2:12; 3:1)

The power of His resurrection is not command over sin, but pleasure in new life!

The power of His resurrection is freedom to live in Christ, not conformity to religious law!

A. The point is that my old man is dead and there is a new man living.

B. My focus is on this new life.

In contrast, for many Christians, the focus is always on themselves and their sin, which they are enslaved to, whether in the act or not.

They live in guilt!

They live in shame!

They live without the visible power of Christ’s resurrection!

II. The fellowship of His sufferings is what God uses to bring me closer to Christ, alive in Christ, and further from the old man.

A. This is what motivates me to serve Him.

B. This is what allows me to give where I Couldn’t before.

III. The resurrection power of Christ is making me conformable day by day to His death.

A. The more alive I am, the more crucified I am.

B. The more passionate I am for Christ, the less passionate I am for this world.

And that’s the real sin, the refusal to be passionate for Christ, and dispassionate for the world!
