Wasn't for Mother's Day.
You know, it's cold when you see your breath, when you go outside on Mother's Day.
I tell you, it's cold.
For sure.
If you are here visiting for the first time, you say a little car like this in front of you, probably staring at your knees in the future.
If you could get one of those and fill that out, you say well, I don't want to write that much.
It's too much right?
Just put your name and number and email on there.
That's all you have to do.
And then on your way out, if you'll just leave it on, the vegetables will be just want to record of your attendance.
The day will happy Mother's Day to all the mothers.
It's a good day and what I'm going to ask now.
If the mothers would stand please, if you can, we just want to recognize all the mothers that are here today.
So, would all the mothers stand, please.
Alright, let's see about all the moms a hand today or what or what they mean.
So am I on Viki?
I guess I am.
Okay.
All right.
All right, you can be seated.
Thank you so much for being here today.
Well, today, I was thinking about this week.
Well, what can I say about the moms?
And so, what I want to do today is to show you.
How we can honor our mothers.
And that's the title of today's message, how to honor your mother bringing joy to Mom.
So if you have your Bibles, I want you to turn to Exodus please, the book of Exodus.
Chapter 20.
That's the second book in the Bible Genesis, and then Exodus.
Exodus chapter 20 and we going to look at 1 verse.
And that is verse 12.
And this is what the Bible says.
Honor your father and your mother that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God.
Is giving you.
That was an evangelist by the name of d.l.
Moody.
He was kinda, he was kind of like Billy Graham in his time and he made a statement.
I was reading about his life this past week and he made a statement and this is what he said.
He says I have lived over 60 years and I have learned one thing if I have learned nothing else.
No, man, or woman who dishonors his father or mother ever prosperous?
That's exactly what he said in the Bible here and we are talkin about the tank.
What I just read was one of the Ten, Commandment says here to honor your father and mother that your days may be long.
Now this pin commandant here and sometimes we just look at Mother's Day.
It occurs once a year is kind of like a birthday.
It's kind of like Christmas is kind of like Easter.
We just celebrate it once a year in, so, but this is not merely a Sentimental day.
Mothers Mother's Day is biblical.
You see the Bible says, we are to honor our father and mother and Mother's Day is just a token of that honor.
I want you to think of this, every single one of us here today.
The first relationship we ever develop was with our mothers, you know, that that was the first relationship that you ever develop.
How me, and you mom's here when you are pregnant.
You talk to your baby.
You read to your baby in the womb.
You prayed for your baby in the womb?
You sang to your baby.
You see that was the first relationship that every single one of us had talkin to and nurturing the baby in the womb.
And sometimes we take for granted these structures that God has created to such an extent where we just think, what, you know, it's nice that babies come from mothers or it's nice that women mothers nurture their children, and we just kind of leave it at that, but we need to consider this fact this morning that God's glory is demonstrated.
In the right order of creation.
This is how God created you under the right circumstances in the right way.
A baby begins to develop in that womb until that baby is born.
And once that baby is born, that baby is still absolutely unconditionally, fundamentally dependent on the nurture and care of that mother.
That's what that baby is dependent upon.
In friends in our culture today many people say well what it is.
It's a pregnant person.
No, it's not a pregnant person.
It's a pregnant mother.
It is a woman.
It is a mother is what it is and I just think about this.
Jesus.
God himself came to this earth in the Incarnation.
He never had a, he never had a Earthly.
Father, as far as conception.
But he had an Earthly mother.
And she took care of him.
She carried him.
She gave birth to him.
He was just like us.
He couldn't feed himself.
He couldn't help himself.
He had a mother that took care of him.
And what did Jesus tell?
John as he was hanging on the cross.
John, you take care of my mother.
You take care of my mother.
Well, I want to give you four ways today.
That you can honor your mother and not just on Mother's Day.
I'm talkin about all days of your entire life.
Matter fact, when we look at this, we going to honor our mothers in past.
I'm in present time and future time.
And in all time, four ways that you can do that number one.
We can honor our mothers in pastime.
Bible lessons you learned.
By the lessons, you learned not to look at it in Proverbs 1 verse 8 and 9. My son hear the instruction of your father.
And do not forsake the law of your mother and inverse night.
For they will be a graceful ornament on your head and change about your nephew, you know, something I have figured out.
That the older you become.
The smarter, your parents become if you ever figure that out.
You remember how crazy your parents seem to be when you were little, it just seemed like that.
They were just kind of crazy.
You know, how I remember when my mama used to work.
