Intro
Text - Genesis 5.1-2; Matthew 19.4
Title - Gender Identity Crisis
Series - Bible Answers to Social Issues
Background
Gender Identity Disorder (or Gender Dysphoria)
Baker Encyclopedia of Psychology and Counseling (Gender Identity Disorder)
Gender Identity Disorder.
People with a strong and persistent identification with the opposite sex may have gender identity disorder.
Children and adults with this disorder express in words and actions symptoms of gender dysphoria: a strong desire to be a member of the opposite sex.
They may say that they belong to the other gender, although they do not believe it.
Rather, they feel that they have been assigned to the wrong sex.
Children with gender identity disorder prefer to dress, wear their hair, and play as the opposite sex.
Girls reject attempts to dress them in sex-appropriate clothing.
Both girls and boys may prefer the urinary posture of the opposite sex.
They express disgust about sexually maturing in their assigned sex.
They dream and fantasize that they will mature as a member of the opposite sex.
Adults with gender identity disorder attempt to a significant degree to appear and behave as a member of the opposite sex.
Both in private and in public they commonly will cross-dress.
Many adults with this disorder will try to look more like the opposite sex through hormonal treatments, binding or enhancing undergarments, and—for men—removal of body and facial hair.
About three times as many men as women will seek to surgically alter their sexual anatomy, a behavior known as transsexuality.

Sex alone does not determine gender
Sex is determined by 3 aspects
physical - culturally male/female/intersex
personality - typical behavior in life, either male or female pursuits
preference - how one wants to express the self, emotionally, romantically, sexually
Personal observations - most of these gender identities are really “disorders”
agender
gendervoid
transgender
God and His Creation
God created humans male and female
Mankind has only 2 genders
Sin’s effect on creation
a self-expression of good and evil
a corruption on aspirations
a denial of truths that led to further corruption
The Roots of the Problem
Denial of the Creator-God
in order to escape accountability
a result of ignorance
The rise of anthropo-centric views
man is the center of universe
self-happiness is the goal of life
Laodicean spirit (people’s rights)
The pursuit of self-expression
in exchange of God’s will
in search of meaning for evolutionary existence
The Solution to the Problem
Acknowledge the Creator-God over one’s life
to recognize God is to acknowledge that one was created by God
to acknowledge one’s created status is to have a purpose for existence
Acknowledge the presence of sin and the need of a Savior
the problem of sin is real
the problem of sin is beyond man’s ability to resolve
faith in Christ’s finished work resolves the problem of sin
Acknowledge God’s design for one’s life
Design determines purpose
man and woman were created to compliment each other
Purpose gives order and meaning to existence.
Conclusion
God created us uniquely different by design.
Let us abide by God design for each of us.
Let us find contentment in our devotion to God.
Godliness with contentment is great gain.
