Good morning, friends, we’re so glad you have tuned in to hear God’s Precepts and Promises this morning brought to you by the Rome Church of Christ.
We’re examining Christianity systematically--taking all the Bible has to say on a subject and putting it together as best as possible.

The witnesses were chosen (Acts 10:41)

The Witnesses were sufficient in number (Theissen 246)

Q: Did Jesus really die on the cross?
A: The soldiers confirmed his death (Mk 15:43-45 “Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counseller, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus. And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead. And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.” He did not swoon or faint on the cross as some suggest

ability to remember facts, give testimony
4 seaman
A tax collector
Paul—a scholar
Number of women

The effects of the resurrection

The empty tomb
The Lord’s Day observance
The establishment of the church (Acts 2:30-32 “Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.”
The NT itself— “If Jesus had remained buried in the grave, the story of his life and death would have remained buried with Him” (Evans quoted by Theissen 247)
CONCLUSION
Sum: The resurrection of Christ took place as predicted, in a bodily, glorified form, and was witnessed by sufficient witnesses.
