Okay. Well, good morning. Everyone. Good to see, you know, where few this morning. Many people are sick. So we need to pray for them. It's good to have our brother Rick back with us after his operation yet. He said he feels like he's got run over by a tractor-trailer. We need to we need to be continued praying for him to let them open up in a word of Prayer. By the way. Thank you for the privilege of being here this morning though. We're not at our best. So often we experience life at its worst here on the earth. And yet, the fact that we can come into your presence and we can study your word. A truth that is there in the mist of Shifting Sands of the world. The reality that someday we won't have to deal with these. Bodies that are decaying and falling apart, but we will be in your presence with glorified bodies, and it's all because of what the Lord Jesus Christ for us on the cross, that it is, his great atonement. That was given for our in our place. He took our sins upon him. He said your rap and RB happen. So even though we are dealing with life as it is right. Now, how do we know that someday? We will be with you. By the way, we would pray for those this morning who are not here because of sickness, we pray for our brother rolling that you would heal him. We pray for Rick, our brother, Rick petracca that you would continue to administer to him. Your healing hand. We thank you for the wisdom that you've given doctors to be able to perform such an amazing surgeries father. I pray that you would continue to guide him and help him be with his. She helps him as well. I just pray that you were Holy Spirit would be in our midst and the art teacher this morning in Jesus name. Amen.

Okay, so we are, of course, in the Book of Romans and we've been here for a very long time and some of you might remember last week. I don't know if I remember last year. But anyway, so I can't remember. Last week, you mentioned that because there's a lot to go in the Book of Romans and I think I'm going to end on chapter 11. This will have taken care of all the doctrinal part and then pick up chapter 12 through 16 next year as a part three and that's dealing more with the Practical end of it. So I may end in May so you may if you're up to it brother. Greg begin first Sunday in June with your class on hermeneutics. That's the plan right now. Let the Lord returns to worry about any of this, you know. So, we are in this section called God's sovereignty over salvation. And it's dealt with a lot of issues with regard to the idea of sovereignty of God, which some people have a hard time, understanding all of us. Have a hard time understanding. Not just some people, but we argue over this at times and yet it is the reality that this salvation that God has provided. He superintendent. It's not found out by accident by any but we're not real smart people and we kind of come across God's salvation and they are we trust in him know it is actually superintendent completely by God. So, let me just give you a way of review of where we are right now. In regard to chapter 9, we just finished up chapter 9. This whole section here. We see the principle of God's electing Mercy. As it is. Applied indiscriminate lie to the mass of guilty Jews and gentiles. But there are some objection to kind of, you know, you read these objections that Paul is bringing forth in this chapter 9, right? First. Then the object in that this is on job. How can God just choose people indiscriminately. It seems like the US, it's not interesting to lie to God. Secondly, the whole heart, you're from the promises that God gave to the Jewish Nation. The Apostle Paul was doing with these issues inside of this.

And yet and also to there may have been because Paul was ministering mostly to whom the Gentiles. There may have been some. Supposing bajor presuppositions by that his people that, that, that Pisces to feel an interest for his countrymen anymore. And yet really, as we see how this is chapter 9 opened up. I'm just going to give you a real quick overview, and there's been a busy things happening just to give us a running starting to chapter 10 chapter 9. We saw him. We started out with Paul's concern for his brother and Israel, verses one through five. He said, if I could be accursed for them, I would Is great concern. Any matches the fact that they had so many blessings. God had given given to them all the oracles and all and then he goes into chapter it in chapter 9, verse 26, through 29, King Define to the true children of God. He wants the people to know it was You know, the gym. Plan.

The post something and say, oh I like that, doesn't look like that's going to work. So let me do this to me, never really in versus 6229. We see who the true children of God were meant to be. In versus 6013, they were not the children. They were the children of promise, not the children of the flat. So he starts out by saying, you know, Abraham had two sons, right? He had Isaac and Ishmael become a child of the flash was not a true child of God, because God, chose who?

It was about, it's the idea that that the people in, in Israel, even in Jesus day. They kept pointing back to the fact that they were children of Abraham children. So that meant something supposedly. But really would Paula. Same here. It's not the children of the flat, but the children of promise. We also saw that the true true children of God were the object of God's mercy. We call that great verse. The God gave to Moses when he was on the mountain and God was revealing his glory. From since I am the Lord. I am slow to anger. I am I show Mercy on whom I will show Mercy. You know, I am the one who shows mercy. So, true. Child of God is one who I chose the so Mercy to they didn't figure it out for themselves. We also saw that the true child of God was not just the Jew but he also the Gentile, praise God. That was verses 6 through 29, then vs 30 and 33 through 33. We saw that. The basis of God's choice was on faith versus no.

They didn't have all the advantages of juice, right? but they, Responded to the gospel song by Israel. Of course. They what did they do? You said that? They didn't have all of the benefits aren't because of their pride in the neighborhood. They were already at day today having all the advantages has caused them to be lifted up in prayer. I write a lot of my friends when I became a Christian. I was living with a bunch of guys and they each of them had a conversion story and they were there. Somewhat one of them was the head of the SDS at the school and that type of stuff and it was a dramatic conversion and I'm thinking I never had that. But then again, when I looked back and really start to think about it, my conversion was a more miraculous than there. I had just graduated from college from ivy league, college and everything in front of me. And that's when no more tap me on the shoulder, which, which means I was already self-sufficient a miracle, that he cried, even those who had more advantage in a way. They had a lot of disadvantage to, that's how we closed chapter 9, right? We see that, we see that, that the Messiah became a what I saw a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense. Whoever believes in him will not be put to shame. So who was the stone of stumbling? And who was this? Rock, offensives, the Lord, Jesus Christ for them to them. It became a, what a stumbling block, a rock with them. So that is the basis that the background. As we go into, check your chat. Remember chapter 9, 10 11 are to be taken as a cohesive. So many times we used verses and even use them correctly in certain chapters, and we forget about all that goes on around them and use the Romans road, when you were proclaiming the gospel. We talked about, you know, if we confess with your mouth, that Jesus is Lord and leave it on him, the day, you will be safe. I will be saf, that's great. That's true. But in the context we are talking about the salvation that was provided for both Jews and Gentiles. We're going to see if we can do 10:30 on bling. They were offended, they didn't believe why is it? Because they didn't have the truth and we're in this section again, is rejection of God's saving Promises of God's righteousness. So we see in verses and this is verses 1 through 15 at beginning with an expression of his concern, for Israel verses one through, four brothers. My heart's, desire and prayer to God for them. Who's the deaf Israel? Is that they may be safe for? I bear them witness that they have a zeal. For God, but not according to knowledge is very important statement for being ignorant of righteousness, of God and seeking to establish their own. They did not submit to God's righteousness for Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. So let's look at that. Meteor is real. That is real be. He had concerned. That Israel would be saved for. They have a deal but not knowledge is again, pouring out his heart desires. He wants so much has already said in the beginning of chapter 9.

For his people, he is crying out to Hearts Desire. I desired to see them saved, which answers the question is, he has not rejected his people, you know, because he went to the Jedi. That's what God has given it to do, but he still had Harper's people. That use the word zeal and I lost you know, so do most like a transliteration of the same word at the deal for God and excitement of fervor and Arturo see what they were very excited for God. But what about this exciting? What did he say about the statement?

It was not what according to knowledge. Use the word epic noses with me per site or correct? Knowledge. Do you know you gay?

He's following the passions of his heart. It is that mean that every person. Who follows the passions of their heart and there's Ellis and sincere is to be commended.

Knowledge puffs up. We're talkin about a knowledge here. That pops you up.

Do you have a people?

Is it going to say that? Because we're talking about a people that stumbled over and became offended over what Christ the Messiah?

You have a lot of people that have a deal for all the wrong things. It's the common phrase you here.

You know, someone seemed follow your what heart? You at the bar is about the barley. Look at history. Crusades War to save the holy land has killed a lot of people. Yeah. So the reality is that they weren't sincere, but they were not sincere according to knowledge. They didn't have the precise and correct knowledge. So we're going to see, is it? Because there was a lack of information going to see that in a minute. I love the way pulp. What's that? Secondly, we see here through ignorance. They seek to save themselves by what the law. I do not submit to God's righteousness in Christ, which is an end of a log, the way pole, put this. Cuz he says here in versus verse 3, for being ignorant of the righteousness of God.

And seeking to establish their own. They do not submit themselves to God's righteousness for Christ is the end. Abba law for righteousness to everyone. Who is that mean that Christ a polished obliterated?

Christ, which brings an end the law. When he says, could be what?

Could mean that something has been completed. Right? So we're talking about a self righteousness. Bruising a God's righteousness. Christ is the end of the law, the end of which all things relate to the purpose Christ himself, but filled the purpose of the law, we don't obliterate the law and Believers. Believers are not to be antinomian. Mean, we're not to be able to, we're not to say hello or Christ fulfills the law perfectly because he was perfectly righteous and we in Christ fulfills the law, but we are still because the law is God's law.

Right. I'm not condemned by the anymore. It was the purpose. Christ. Was the end of the law. The purpose of the aim of the law. He fulfill the law perfectly. If it's his righteousness. You got such an important point because of juice tripped over that. Thought that they would happen. You were going to see what Paul has to say about that. And then it part be here, right? This is a law versus the righteousness by faith in Christ and verses 5 through 15.

So this is what he says in verses 5 through 15. He says, for Moses writes about the righteousness that is based on the law that the person who does the command shall live by them. Right? But the righteousness based on faces, do not say in your heart who will set up spending to Heaven. That is to bring Christ down or who will descend into the abyss that is to bring Christ up from the dead. But what does it say? The word is near. You in your mouth and in your heart, that is the word of faith that we Proclaim. Because if we confess with your mouth, that Jesus is Lord, you see how this all fits together here is going to be taken out of context, because if we confess with your mouth, that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead. You will be saved for with the heart. One hand is Justified and with the mouth one confesses and is safe for the scripture. Says everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame that there is no distinction between you and Greek. For the same Lord is Lord of all of his throwing his riches on all who call on him for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. How she'll well, how bad will they call him him? And who they have not to leave in? How will they believe in him? And of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless? They are sent as it is written. How beautiful are the feet of those. Who preach the good news. PupilPath.

So we're going to see here that righteousness of the law. As it was defined by Moses. Moses is really saying here in verse 5, read it again about the righteousness. That is based on the wall at the person who does the commandant's shall live by them. Other words, what is Moses say? If you want to be righteous by the law, what do you have to do?

You can't. I'm not very smart, but I know I can't keep the law perfectly, right? But then in verses 6 through 15, we see the righteousness by faith has defines it as a really beautiful section. Quoting from Deuteronomy 13:2 Levin through 14, a good example. of a portion scripture that it was difficult to understand as I was reading through the years and years ago about, you know, a person going to heaven, bring Christ round of this for you, press that let the world is that be cuz I got reading through the scriptures. I came across this section in Deuteronomy chapter 30, verse 11, through 14 and it says this. But this Commandment that I command you today, is that too hard for you. Neither is it far off or it is not in heaven that you should say, who shall send a heaven for us and bring it to us that we may hear it and do it. Either isn't the honesty that you should say? Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us that we made here yet and do it. I haven't been. Changing the slicer about that. I need her isn't Dion to see that you should say, who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us. That we may hear it do it, but the word is very near you. It is in your mouth and in your heart so that you can do it. So what that mean?

It's kind of like, the Jews used to say that when something is really hard, like, okay, who's going to go up there and bring that down? Or to see if we can't get it? We're here in the here. And now didn't think you really would Moses was saying about the commander got you know, why it's not rocket. Science course, he would have said that in those days but it is what we would say that there is no further investigation needed. It is right here right now why the people stumble over the obvious basketball?

Do not have this clearly right now. But they stumbled over it, if they want to some kind of what sign it was somebody to come and show them what to do. So what is it? What is it? What do we need to do? What we need to do to receive the righteousness of Christ. He says that next right the boss, confessing Jesus and believing in his resurrection. So we see that bit her. We all know this first night at 10. This goes in the context of the fact that they were saying, this is too complicated. What should we do this right here? Because if you confess with your mouth, that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. Go with the heart, One Believes and is just fine with the mouth one confesses, and it's a war, we need to do. It's complicated, isn't it and believe?

You got to work for? Yes, this is this idea that you don't get something for nothing. Right? We live in that kind of big.

But it's interesting that there's two different words that we typically used interchangeably. I mean, I know they are different.

Are you off the top my head? I'm not sure. I know what was behind those words. I don't know if you are intending to go there or not.

Got home would let go but Jo is confessed, which means to stay the same thing as another to agree with to a cent. So we need to agree with what with God, that Jesus is Lord. Are we getting this big argument about evangelicals about lordship salvation?

Simple. Believe that Jesus is Lord. What is inferred in the fact that will weaken faster. We agree with me agree with God, that Jesus Christ is Lord. What is inferred in that? If you don't mind me asking obvious we had this discussion in the VSC.

He's in control of my life. And you confess that Jesus Christ is Lord it at. I was just teaching it in a in a prison when I was in that plan and we would talk about this idea. Why is confession that Jesus Christ is Lord must go hand-in-hand with the lead was okay.

Agree with. It's a demonstration of what is in your? Okay, because if you look, when I look at, this says you, you are. Believe in your heart, meaning you have changed, but you also confess it to demonstrate that that that has happened. Okay. We're getting closer here ship of Christ before you confess that Jesus is Lord. What is Lord of your life?

Self send your Nate, your sinful nature soap in order. So, you're following this pathway of self sinful nature. You're following your sincere pathway that you have designed for yourself. And when you confess, that Jesus is Lord. What are you doing?

So, the inference in confessing that Jesus is Lord, It's the idea of repentance. Hurting from turning to Turning from the old turning to the new. And there is there is no in-between State, no matter how many people try to infer that there is there's no in-between State. I was following the world. I was following my own sinful way. I can fast. Jesus Christ as my Lord. I turned You are no longer Lord over your own. Jesus is Lord. That's right. When you confess that Jesus is Lord, you believe in your heart. This is not just an intellectual set, right?

This word means to entrust entrust a thing 21. You're a liar. You used to go this way. You confess that Jesus is Lord, and you were going to play and what are you doing? When you're doing that, you were in trusting your life to Christ? Giving him control.

Stay out of the abundance of your heart, your mouth speaks.

Inward belief is the manifestation of our confession and life change as a result of that.

Should we talk about people who come to Christ? Now? I mentioned this before, I was, I want to Word of Life Bible Institute and I'm grateful for the things that I learned there, a grateful for their privilege.

But they also taught me in the vandalism a way of evangelism where you tell tale to repeat a little prayer. And you're saved and bright that dating your book. There was no acknowledgement, that Jesus is working. There was a discussion whether this concept of lordship salvation was a part of salvation. Absolutely, is the scripture teaches that Jesus is Lord. You must confess. Confess that Jesus is Lord, put your faith and trust your heart. Who's that? worship right after the meeting that you you're always acknowledged in that every moment of every day that Jesus is Lord, but he truly is

I will, if I can get through it and I don't know if it's too far off of what you owe, the path that he had mentioned it before. And I was just going to say, when we tried it, do things, our own way or our own righteousness.

Someone who was a Muslim. Do they describe it? They were in? An inborn in that where there in a day were told. It's kind of like a bridge and if you can Yep.

Get there.

And he's like, great. Now. I need to do three hundred years of Prayer.

Wow.

But he came to Christ.

Yep. Yep. Yeah, that's that. I fits right in here. So, okay, so This, this is not complicated. This is not rocket science, right? This is turning from the old embracing Christ Place in your life in his hands. It was this offered to he says in versus at 11:13 to everyone Jew and Gentile like so there is a general called that goes out who calls anyone who calls on the name of the Lord is saved. So when we talked about calling on the name of the Lord is taking in contacts when we just talked about confessing and believing correct as pecan Jacks to the Workhorse, the word, collateral collateral night, which means more than just a general word for cough and needs to address one by name, recognizing that you have the relationship with that one. And that one is the resource that you need. So we talked about, we talked about this sometime, we argue about the order of Salvation. I gave you that big chart and all that kind of stuff. So how does one know Christ to call upon him as a person? Normally no Christ when they're dead in the trespasses incident.

You have to do some how some way and that's what we're going to talk about here. The call is when you call on the name of the Lord, you're calling on someone that you know. How did that knowledge? Come about it. We're going to see that in the second, right? This is not just a cry for help in the dark. I want you to know that does this work does not allow for that? Where does not allow us to just say this is all on the name of what you are, come to pass. It is versus 14 through 15 copies through the medium of what?

Preaching. How Long Will They Call On Him? Whom they have not believed the question, right? And how are they to bleed on him? Whom they have not heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach? Unless they are sent as it is written? How beautiful the feet of those? Who preach, the good news. Has chosen to call his Through the means of what? God has chosen not come in a burning bush. The people come to know Christ through up.

Preaching, find it interesting that they're using the word. And not teaching serious, talk.

Preaching. On the same here. and also, That's a good. Also preaching goes towards the unregenerate and teaching goes towards they regenerate. And that's why the first thing is the conversion of the heart and then the computer because that's what he were reaching. With preaching the word cariso, it means to announce to Harrell to make known I made a distinction once before, you know, this kind of preaching anybody can do and what I'm talking about, what we do on Sunday morning, cuz we know that the scripture teaches that the elders are supposed to do that. But men, women can be in her own, right? You can proclaim the gospel and that's where he's staying here. Is that this gospel this ability to know? Jesus comes through one means. God's design, was that it comes through with people being Harold's from cleaning up. So when you get out and you get into the community and you say, you know what, I'm just going to be a friend of this person. Don't see me and don't think they'll somehow come to Christ.

What we supposed to be doing school, spoken, word, spoken word is what God uses to call his people and that is what the people used to call upon the name of the Lord. Simple simple concept and John Kerry's that struggled through. At the beginning of his gospel. Call Christ the word.

That was easy. The pulse Point here is that this is not rocket science. That's the point. Right? So we see the Israel's neglect of the gospel and simple, what happened?

Well, first of all, not all obey the gospel, look what he says in verses 16 through 18. It says, but they have not all of it. The gospel for Isaiah said what he has heard from us. So faith comes by hearing and hearing through the word of Christ, but I asked have not have they not heard indeed. They have for their voice is going out to all the Earth and their words to the ends of the world.

This is nothing new. Isaiah predicted this. In fact up. Paul is speaking when he says in verse 16. He says, hi, but they have not all believe the gospel. For Isaiah says, Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us. This is actually the first one where Isaiah saying, who has believed, what he has heard from us and to whom has the arm of the Lord than reveal. That's a good introductory passage prolong to Isaiah 53.

What is a fiction Urban?

Want me to stop bring Messiah? Isaiah. Already knew that what he was going to say and Isaiah 53, which I going to be received. Who sang? Who's going to believe this? This is what? This is what the stopping service going to be all about. You do know that looking for suffering servant. Suffering. Servant Messiah.

Call Jesus.

Has the same mindset in John, chapter 12 received John relates, the same thing. He says. So the words spoken by the prophet, Isaiah might be fulfilled. Lord who has believed what he heard from us and to whom has the arm of the Lord revealed. Therefore they did not believe. For again, Isaiah said, he was blinded the eyes and heart in their heart less. They see with their eyes on and turn and I would kill them. This was in response to Jesus work kernion. Jesus was doing what any Miracles. What was? What was the problem? We're believing him. Like who is he think he is, that we know where he lives, you know?

What's going to happen?

Opportunity. Certainly, they did. Look at verse 17 with what Paul says. You're so faith comes by hearing and hearing through the word of Christ, but I asked.

Faith comes from hearing God's word. So okay. So we're closed by the way, in our Proclamation and are preaching and our heralding of the Gospel are responsible for the response. I know that was one thing. It was not made clear to me when I was there and Eliza's that I'm not responsible. I'm responsible for the truth of the Gospel, proclaim the truth of the Gospel. 41. It brings about the respondent faith comes from hearing God's word. That all who hear believe. But all who believe must what here? Hearing about word did go out to the Jews, then go out. Wasn't a gentle only thing. It went out to do some Infected went out pretty early as we found out. Oh my goodness. I'm going to try to get through this. And the Gentiles reception was also foreseen by scriptures. Look at versus verse 19 to 20, but I asked did Israel. Not understand or Moses says, I will make you jealous of those who are not a nation with a foolish nation that will make you angry. Then Isaiah told. It's so bold, as to say, I have not found, I have been, I have been found by those who did not seek me, who are those? I have shown myself to those who did not ask for me, but a visual. He says all day long. I have held out my hand to it. This would be didn't contrary people. So as spoken by most chapter 32 21, they have made me jealous. What, what is? No God, they have provoked me to anger with their Idols. So I will make them jealous with those who are no people. I will provoke them to anger with a foolish Nation God's plan. From the beginning. Was that Jew and Gentile will like

We believe in the same message. This is very important. I have. Getting contact with people over the years. You think that the Jews have a special plan for God? It is no different than the Gentiles who said spoken up by us are. So let's, let's look at that. That person. Isaiah 20 and 21. It's from Isaiah. 65 verses 1 and 2 and this is what it says. Those who did not seek me those who did not ask for me or what?

And disobedient and obstinate people are the juice. So, this is the background with the Paul asked the question.

The God's plan fail. No, not at all. It was always God's plan to save both, Jew and Gentile. The Jew, stumbled over the Salvation pipes.

Yep. and then,

Absolutely. Absolutely. Amen. Okay. So let's so we're going to, this is a good precursor to chapter 11 cuz we'll see in chapter 11 and ends. With a noise, will be safe. Talk about that. I'm going to spend a few weeks in chapter 11 to try to take it very carefully, through chapter 11, okay, or willing next week. So let's pray. Father, we do. Thank you so much for this amazing plan that you have given us. We thank you for salvation through. Jesus Christ that we confess that Jesus is Lord and returned from those things that we were following. I believe, in our heart, put our trust in Jesus Christ Alone. We will be safe. Thank you for that truth, and that you have called us to be preachers, three Heralds of the Gospel. In that, with that gospel. You call your people to yourself, and they call on you. We thank you for this marvelous plan. We praise you for salvation to the next service to worship and praise and adore you. In Jesus name. Amen. I will see you next week.
