CIT: God’s gift of salvation is one of amazing grace, true equality, and radical transformation.

The grace of God’s salvation
The equality of God’s salvation
The transformation of God’s salvation
The cost of God’s salvation

The grace of God’s salvation (Matt. 20:1-15)

God’s grace extends to all types of people
Matt. 20:1-15
God brings people into his kingdom
Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

The equality of God’s salvation (Matt. 20:16, 20-28)

The Kingdom of God elevates the lowly and brings down the prominent
Matt. 20:16
Leaders in the Kingdom of God are those who serve based on their experience of Christ’s sacrificial love and forgiveness
Matt. 20:25-28
Philippians 2:3-11 “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

The transformation of God’s salvation (Matt. 20:29-34)

Apart from Christ we are blind to God’s light
2 Corinthians 4:4-6 “In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”
Apart from Christ we are bound to sin
John 8:34-36 “Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
In Christ we have been transformed to properly follow him
Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

The cost of God’s salvation (Matt. 20:17-19)

Jesus’s life for your death
Romans 5:6-10 “For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.”
Your sin for Jesus’s perfection
2 Corinthians 5:21 “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
