Prov 31:26-31 TLB

When she speaks, her words are wise, and kindness is the rule for everything she says. 27 She watches carefully all that goes on throughout her household and is never lazy. 28 Her children stand and bless her; so does her husband. He praises her with these words: 29 "There are many fine women in the world, but you are the best of them all!" 30 Charm can be deceptive and beauty doesn't last, but a woman who fears and reverences God shall be greatly praised.

Blessing – Gk. eulogia (yoo-log-ee'-ah); fine speaking, i.e. elegance of language; commendation ("eulogy").

Ancient Jewish tradition has something for us to reclaim and consider for the 21st century. Before children could walk, they received blessings from their parents on the Sabbath and other holy days.

James 3:5-6

Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

James 3:10

From the same mouth comes blessing and cursing

Prov 18:21

The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

Prov 12:14

From the fruit of his lips a man is filled with good things as surely as the work of his hands rewards him.

Num 6:24-26

The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; 26 the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace."

Ruth 4:13-15

So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife. Then he went to her, and the Lord enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son. 14 The women said to Naomi: "Praise be to the Lord, who this day has not left you without a kinsman-redeemer. May he become famous throughout Israel! 15 He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. For your daughter-in-law, who loves you and who is better to you than seven sons, has given him birth."

Gen 12:2-3

"I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great,

and you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you."

Gen 22:18

Through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me."

Prov 11:9-11

With his mouth the godless destroys his neighbor, but through knowledge the righteous escape.

10 When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices; when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy.

11 Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed.

1 Peter 3:9-10

Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.

Prov 14:1

The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.

Gal 3:14

He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.

Prov 31:26 NKJV

She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the law of kindness.

Prov 31:26 TLB

When she speaks, her words are wise, and kindness is the rule for everything she says.

Prov 31:30 NKJV

Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.

Rom 12:14

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse

Mark 10:13-16

People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."  16 And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.
