Everyone is Intuitive
We naturally see things that interests us
We are intuitive about things that are our strength
“Leaders are Readers ”
Not just of books, but readers of people and things
Readers of Situation
Being able to see every dilemma or situation from all sides.
A head coach in sports need to be able to see multiple vantage points.
Was there ever a time when you were able to avert a dilemma by changing your perspective of a situation?
Readers of Trends
Being able to see patterns in behavior, attitudes, and inspiration (when is someone or people inspired).
Being able see when people are most successful.
For instance, is there a time of day you know you are most productive?
What people spend their time and money on tells a lot.
What are some examples of reading “trends”?
Readers of Resources
Being able to utilize every resource at their disposal.
Think MacGyver here when talking about resources.
A good leader is able to use multiple resources to solve problems.
Example: people always turn to money as a resource. Although capital is an important resource, a good leader know how to read the room to find untapped resources.
What are some examples of finding resources other than money?
Readers of themselves
A reader must have self awareness.
There is nothing worse than a self-centered leader.
Being able to hear yourself, see yourself, and know yourself is very important for a leader.
Asking questions like, “how did that sound?” how was my facial expression?” “was I in the wrong frame of mind when I responded?”
Can you think of an instance when you made a bad decision be you were not self aware?
Learning where you are with Leadership Intuition
Natural Leadership Intuition
Leadership intuition comes naturally to some. They know how to read people, situations and resources. You can see them at a young age.
Learned Leadership Intuition
People who have never really put thought into thinking like a leader
They are able to add the skill of intuition, because they want to grow
You can learn to be a more intuitive leader by asking questions about what you see and read.
