The Favored Son (1-11)

Jacob’s favoritism toward Joseph caused envy.

Joseph’s dreams were misunderstood and rejected by those around him, but they were prophetic!

The brothers take a trip to Schechem, Joseph sent by his father to check on them. 70 miles - 2.5 to 3 day journey.

He gets there and they have gone further North to Dothan, another 20 miles (1 day journey).

They see him coming and plot to kill him.

A foreshadow of Jesus - John 1:11 “11 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.”

Reuben, the firstborn, rescues him.

The Lord was with Joseph. He is Sovereign over the affairs of men.
