A. Now wasn’t the time to fight, but prepare spiritually for what is to come. “Spiritual warfare is the cosmic conflict waged in the invisible, spiritual realm but simultaneously fleshed out in the visible, physical realm. To put it another way, the root of the war is something you cannot see, but the effects of the war are clearly seen and felt. This is because everything physical is either influenced or caused by something spiritual.”- Tony Evans
B. Joshua had them pick out one man from every tribe, and pick up a stone from the Jordan, so that they’d remember what Yahweh had done at the Jordan.
C. Joshua followed Yahweh humbly and was exalted in the sight of the people as a result. Sometimes it’s hard to lead and not lose your temper/testimony. Moses did, hence why he wasn’t leading them into the promise land, and Joshua was.
D. Our memorials, mile markers, and memoirs should be about what Yahweh has done for us, and accomplished through us. Not look at me and what I’ve done. “Your best weapon against his attacks is a good memory.”- Max Lucado.

A. Instead of fighting, they needed to remember whose they were.
B. Yahweh goes before us to fight our battles for us! This means you don’t have to fight near as much you think you will.
C. Yahweh was taking away the reproach of the slavery so they didn’t have to be viewed as slaves, but as warriors with God on their side.
D. Circumcision was a sign of Yahweh’s covenant with Abraham. It set Israel apart. The purpose was to change their hearts, so that they could be utterly devoted to Christ. “Yet God was not concerned with their numbers, skills, or muscles. He wanted them to remember whose they were. Specifically, he “rolled away the reproach of Egypt” (Josh. 5:9). The “reproach of Egypt” was the humiliation of slavery that had made them subject to insult and disgrace from other nations. It was time to reclaim their birthright as God’s chosen people.”- Max Lucado. Col. 2:11-15
and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ;
having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.
When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions,
having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.
E. The manna stopped because they didn’t need it anymore. They started a different provision. Yahweh will give us what we need. Some times miraculously, by other people, or our own hard work.
