Live in Submission

What does it mean to submit.
Who we submit to:
Every human institution
Emperor
Governors
Why We submit:
Obedience
We are commanded to do this.
It is God’s will.
To silence the ignorance of foolish people
Limits to human authority:
Human institutions are under the authority of the Lord Jesus. Jesus’ authority always trumps human authority.
Why Governments exist:
Punish those who do evil
Praise those who do good

Live in Freedom

Living in freedom is not living in sin.
Sin enslaves.
Avoid the two ditches
Don’t use your freedom as a cover-up for that which is clearly sinful.
Don’t live in bondage to legalism.
Living in freedom is living in holiness.
You are set apart for good works; therefore you are servants of God.

Live in Honor

Honor everyone.
Not those who have earned honor, but everyone.
Love the brotherhood
Fear God
Honor the emperor
