What are some ways you have seen glimpses of the Kingdom of God?

Study

READ Romans 1:19–20; 8:18–25

1) What are the glimpses of God’s Kingdom that Paul talks about in Romans 1? What is the purpose of those glimpses? What do we learn from creation in Romans 8? How do you see creation groaning? What is the hope we have in this groaning?

2) Make a plan as a group to share with one another over this next week the glimpses of the kingdom of God you see. What are ways you can make sure you are seeing glimpses of the Kingdom of God?

Point 2: Glimpses of the Kingdom in the miraculous

READ John 14:12–14

3) What does Jesus mean when He says, “whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do . . .”? What does that verse NOT mean? What does Jesus mean when He says, “If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it”? What does that verse not mean?

4) What would it look like for the church to live out these verses by faith?

Point 3: Glimpses of the Kingdom in the mundane

READ Leviticus 19:1–18

5) What are the mundane actions the Israelites were called to do (or not do) in these verses? What were these actions to reveal about the people of Israel? What were these actions to reveal about God?

6) In what way have you seen glimpses of the Kingdom of God in the mundane? How has the Lord expanded His Kingdom in your life and around you through the mundane? In your every day, what are simple, mundane things you can do personally to show others the glory of God and His Kingdom?

Point 1: Glimpses of the Kingdom of God

Practical Applications

1. Take a notepad and write down glimpses of the Kingdom of God you see throughout your week.

2. Spend time in thanksgiving to the Lord for the glimpses that you have seen and ask that He would keep your eyes open to see them always.

3. Identify one way you can be a glimpse of the Kingdom of Heaven to someone; determine how you will do this and when (specific time and date) you will do this.

Pray the passage

O Heavenly Father, we praise your holy name and rejoice in your steadfast love and mercy. You Lord are building your kingdom through the miraculous and the mundane, for you are Lord over all.

Thank you for the salvation you have provided for us through your Son Jesus Christ. Thank you for moving in our lives in whatever way you had to so that you would bring us to a saving knowledge by the power of your Holy Spirit.

Empower us now, by your Spirit in us to pray for the miraculous, expect you to accomplish your will, and trust your every decision.

Remind us that as believers there is no divide between the sacred and the secular, for in Christ all our life is for the glory of our King. So Lord, even in the mundane, everyday rhythms of life, would you move in us and through us to expand your Kingdom?

We praise your holy name Jesus, and it is in your name we pray, your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.

Memorize & Meditate

“So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was being built up. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it multiplied” (Acts 9:31).
