As we get started in our focus on growing stronger in the habit of evangelism, where do you see yourself in the following categories?:
1 = A confident witness who has led people to Christ and trained others.
2 = A believer who has shared the Gospel more than a few times, but has yet to develop a consistent lifestyle of a witness.
3 = A novice, someone who either has never been encouraged or trained to share Christ or is generally too afraid to try.
So…a 1, 1.5, 2.5? Here’s what I want us to do. Make it a point to begin praying that God will move you a step—even half of a point forward as we engage in this study together.

His neighbors and those who had seen him before as a beggar said, “Isn’t this the one who used to sit begging?” Some said, “He’s the one.” Others were saying, “No, but he looks like him.” He kept saying, “I’m the one.” So they asked him, “Then how were your eyes opened?” He answered, “The man called Jesus made mud, spread it on my eyes, and told me, ‘Go to Siloam and wash.’ So when I went and washed I received my sight.” “Where is he?” they asked. “I don’t know,” he said.”

One thing I do know: I was blind, and now I can see!” Then they asked him, “What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?” “I already told you,” he said, “and you didn’t listen. Why do you want to hear it again? You don’t want to become his disciples too, do you?””

John 4.21-26 “Jesus told her, “Believe me, woman, an hour is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know. We worship what we do know, because salvation is from the Jews. But an hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and in truth. Yes, the Father wants such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in Spirit and in truth.” The woman said to him, “I know that the Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). “When he comes, he will explain everything to us.” Jesus told her, “I, the one speaking to you, am he.””
John 4.28-30 “Then the woman left her water jar, went into town, and told the people, “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” They left the town and made their way to him.”
John 4.39-42 “Now many Samaritans from that town believed in him because of what the woman said when she testified, “He told me everything I ever did.” So when the Samaritans came to him, they asked him to stay with them, and he stayed there two days. Many more believed because of what he said. And they told the woman, “We no longer believe because of what you said, since we have heard for ourselves and know that this really is the Savior of the world.””

We begin our time considering the habit of evangelism by admitting our struggles with it. I pray that we will gain greater confidence in the days ahead as—on Sunday mornings—we look at the biblical call and encouragement concerning our Gospel witness to others (the lost) around us…and—on Wednesday nights—we work together to help each other overcome our struggles with sharing the Good News with those in our lives who still need to repent of their sin and trust Jesus to be their Savior and Lord. [THIS is important stuff.]
“You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, but rather on a lampstand, and it gives light for all who are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.
