We continue in our sermon series, on the one, another's of how we serve one, another, how we befriend. One another as God has served us and we befriend one another. So today. We continue on and we're speaking this morning of the importance that we might think I was just being something that we do.

When we come to worship as portion of the worship service, but the importance of singing to one another.

Ephesians chapter 5, I'm going to read a couple versus there. But would, cuz if you take your bottles and turn the clashes chapter 3, this morning. That's where our text will be. Our text itself will be verse number. 16. I will read 1 through 17 of Colossians 3. As we do. So just want to remind you a couple weeks ago. We were talking about the two ways to live in the information that is there. Remember their eyes if you have not received one for your family, one of those out on the welcome Booth take one of those to hang up on your refrigerator showing you how to share the gospel. You can also go to the two ways to live.com website and learn more about that and use it as effective tool to introduce people unto God and his kingdom. And what is taking place? Would you hear God's word? As I read it to us this morning? Ephesians 5 is a passage that is very similar. In fact, if you look at the book of Ephesians and the book of Colossians, we would call them sister books. Ephesians has six chapters, Colossians has three units are for excuse me, and it seems very, very similar in its layover. And so I want to read this portion that comes from Ephesians 5 and I'll read verses 18 through 20, and then I'll read Colossians chapter 3 and will look at verse 1 and forward. Ephesians 5, your gums word and do not get drunk with wine glasses debauchery, but be filled with the spirits addressing one. Another in Psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs singing and making Melody to the Lord with your heart. Giving thanks always and forever thing to God the father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. And now as we look any class is Chapter 3 of beginning Brooks, number one will hear very similar words when we come to verse 16. Colossians 3. This is a wonderful portion of scripture that shows the difference that Christ makes in our lives, as we are conformed to the image of his son. As Jesus continues to transform our lives. These are the things that are put off from our lives as we put on Christ, and he puts it this way, even thinking of what's before us with the Holy Week of Palm Sunday in Good Friday in the Resurrection on Easter. I put it this way, if then you have been raised with Christ. Seek the things that are above where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above not on things that are on Earth. For you have died. And your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life appears? Then you also will appear with him in his glory. Put to death. Therefore. What is Earthly in you sexual immorality impurity, passion, evil, desire and covetousness, which is idolatry. On account of these, the wrath of God is coming. And these you too, once walked when you were living in them, but now you must put them all away anger, wrath, malice slander and obscene. Talk from your mom. Do not lie to one another scene that you have put off the old self with its practices. And if put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. Here, there is not Greek and you circumsized and uncircumsized, barbarians scythian slave free. But Christ is all and in all. Put on then as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved compassionate, Hearts. Kindness humility. Meekness and patience bearing with one another. And if one has a complaint against another forgiving each other as the Lord has forgiven you. So you also must forgive And above all these put on love which binds everything together in Perfect Harmony. And Let the Peace of Christ rule in your hearts to which indeed you were called in one body and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.

Teaching and admonishing. One. Another in all wisdom, singing, Psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God, and whatever you do in word or deed. Do everything in the name of the Lord, Jesus giving, thanks to God the Father through him. We have the wonderful privilege to hear his words right in our ears this morning. And now we have opportunity also to come before him and speak to the God who has created us and redeemed us. And I invite you now to come before him. And if there's anything, you would like to confess to him from your heart, if there's something that you would like to praise and thank him for, or bring his request for yourself and others, would you take this time to do so?

Father, we are so grateful that you desire to dwell in US. But you have come in the Flash. I'm major dwelling amongst us. You are, as we've even sang this morning, Emmanuel God With Us. You have and never will leave nor forsake us as your children. We are so grateful that we have been bought with the Precious Blood of your son, Jesus Christ, and that we belong to you in life, and in death. Nothing can separate us from the love of God. That is in Christ. Jesus, our lord. And we thank you that though. Adversity comes though Trials. Come our way though. War becomes an obstacle to our daily lives as it is right now in Ukraine. Father, we know that is your children. All things must work together for our good. To those who are called. Those are those who love God, and are called, according to his purpose. I'm so Lord. We thank you that you have first loved us that we made. Love you. We recognize your call upon us and we ask that you would enable and Empower us. To serve as you have served us to be the friend of one. Another has he been the friend of us to be the servants in the friends of the world around us? That Jesus Christ would be on full display through our lives. Through our actions are words are thoughts or behavior or work? Lord, with this morning, we come before you, and we ask that you would continue. And all the trials and, and things that we face in this life that we endure to know your peace in your comforts. Lord, we pray that you would especially Comfort families in our church that have lost loved ones. We think of the Chris this morning. We pray that you would be with them be with Bob and Karen. The entire family is Karen's father has passed from this life. Thank you for the wonderful long life that you blessed him with. Father, we also pray that you would be with the Turner family and that you would continue to be their sole comfort as their Shepherd and the great loss of their son, Hans. I'm thankful that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. It is as we know our only comfort in life and in death to be bought with the precious blood of Christ. For those who have opportunity to minister, we pray father that you would use us to be a blessing to Rachel to Wayne.

The Hansa sister. His brothers. His nephews and nieces. Lord me, they know if you are care for them. Even tomorrow afternoon as we provide a meal here for the family that you would bless them with a comfort that we can only knowing Christ. May we mourn together and grieve with those around us. So often we try to put on just happy faces in this life. And yet we find that we walk together as you walk with us and all circumstances. And so may we continue to do so.

Father this morning. We ask that you would continue to bring healing and restoration to those who have recently had surgery. We think of Linda schiffman then her surgery and her gallbladder surgery that you'd heal her. We also ask father that you would continue to be with a whites with Greg. Has his transfusion was not needed and necessary recently and also for Cheryl's and a few face has cancer in her fear. I pray father that you would bless her with knowing you and that you'd give Cheryl and red great opportunity to minister to her. Lord knows we come to your word this morning. We ask that you would feed and nourish us. Thank you that you sing over us Jesus as your children, as our brother as your brothers and sisters.

And may we go forth, declaring the Praises of God, to the world around us, and we pray this together in Jesus name. Amen.

This morning, I bring up a title that I don't know if I will ever preach a sermon again, like it. I see the importance of this. So desperately in the world around us because we live in a day and age, when we greatly misunderstand on The Biggest Part, the purpose of music, and singing, I don't say that lightly, but I think it's an issue that is volatile within the church. It kind of reflects our market today. If you look at the stock market right now, it's in the state of great volatility. Since January 1st of his fluctuated over 600 points. That means that 1/8 of what was invested in the market in that time has fluctuated, that's 12 and a half percent of someone retirement portfolio. It might cause you to have a little consternation as you see that going up and down and right now is come back up. And saw it was not 12 and a half percent is about 7%. But the volatility of it has been at the point where things are just fluctuating back and forth. When it comes to music in the church, it's interesting to see the volatility that happens with music and the importance for us to know and understand the purpose of Why We Sing within the body of Christ.

No. We always have this tension between us of living in this world, but not being of this world. So when I grew up it was this kind of thing within the church music. If it had a beat to it, it was wrong. If it had too much little bit of Rhythm syncopation to it. That was the devil plain along with that medley line. And then all of a sudden the guitar was how did the guitar get in church? Of course, you're not even looking at the book of Psalms when we go through these cultural changes and then all the sudden drums and all the others instruments. And when you finally open up the Bible with the person and show them and especially if you just want to see them all in one place, Psalm 150 the last song with a great place to see it. I'm so often. What we do is we allow the culture of the day to set the tone of singing in the world. That then is taken into the church itself.

There's a danger in that. There's a danger in becoming like the world and what we do in here is how it has influence the church at large today. I'm going to be arguing for us today from scripture that it is we who are engaged in a conversation, a dialogue with God. And other words are our worship is not just where we come to show an event and watch concerts and watch people perform in front of us. I believe in this so much that I'm careful that this is my personal standard pastoral Lee is that all singing that we do should be where you can sing along, and if you can't sing along, then we shouldn't do it. It's just like this. You don't go to a steakhouse in a slippery. Chew your steak. No shirt, nor should you have someone just sing your Praises for you? There is something about nourishing that comes from chewing on the words that we sing and mouthing them. And I'm going in a medley from our hearts unto the Lord that lifts us into the presence of God.

And that's what I'm going to argue for this morning. But I want you to understand we live in a day and age where singing by and large within the church has become an event. That becomes the draw. And so we have the band onstage. We have the music blaring sometimes, so loud that you can't even. Participate, the handout cotton balls and back in some Churches at the door earplugs. I've seen it literally take place. Wanna be careful on that? And here's what happens.

The singing. It's kind of, like. Google or the draw, how much can we be like the world around us and use it as that lured? A drawing people? And here's what takes place is resolved it we're constantly if we're not careful singing and thinking that we have to sing the top 40 in the new songs all the time. And eventually we get to the place where people don't know the songs that are being sung in the church.

And are not benefiting from the word of God, dwelling in them. Richly and I know I'm being harsh and critical right now, but I'm telling you, this is an important thing for us to understand and when we have gas, we need to understand. They may be coming from a church of that caliber where they lay look at and say, well that was not as Dynamic. Where's the smoke machine? The fog? Where's the light show? Where is the drawing my emotions? As we know, you'll find that we don't try to sing a bridge over and over and then create a moment with that until you finally feel in the moment and engaged emotionally. There's nothing wrong with being engaged with the Lord, with all of our heart soul, mind and strength and a lot of him that way. And I am going to argue and challenge you, that you should not remain stoic in your singing.

However, it's also not a dog and pony show.

The words that we sing should be rich and meaningful. Memorable.

Recently, I had the opportunity to listen to a quote-unquote Christian artist. Living another form of Lifestyle. And in that said, basically, in the song. That the only songs that I grew up learning where church songs. And so the only song that I sing to my girlfriend, there for our songs that I learned in the church. Now, here's the problem with that. I don't have a problem. If you sing hymns to one another, that's not my problem with that. What she and I won't tell you the artist name that she named it after cuz you'll go and say what? But she named a very prompt. And she name the song after prominent artists. That's it. The top 40 over and over again.

And it caused me to stand back and say, listen, if we can sing a song and not differentiated, is this song declaring the attributes and character of God? And different than a human being. And other words, if I'm singing a song that can be sung to a human. I'm not singing a song unto God. If I have a hard time to be able to tell between Immortal invisible, God only wise.

And where his omnipotence is, sung of where he that he is. His Mercy is more.

As we sang, there's a fountain filled with blood drawn from Emmanuel's veins.

There's a problem because what we have done is it? We will bring the level of understanding the exaltation of Christ and the father in our midst. We bring it down that. So that what will eventually happen is that we see God as being a buddy. He's just like us and I'm just seeing hey, you're a good friend. When in reality, we have to be able to say, you are the one who has created us in your image. The holy God, the one that when we fell and shows to rebell against you, you chose to redeem through your son, Jesus before eternity, Eric began. The one who has called us by name, the one who has made us alive in Christ. And as we sing, what are we doing? We are extolling God for his greatness and His glory. And we're not singing the song on a Barstool to a friend besides this as you love me, and I love you, too.

We're singing first and foremost because you have exalted yourself because you have loved me. I know that I am loved.

And so as we come to this passage in Colossians 3, I want you to see the context that we have read. It is ultimately we are being conformed to the image of Jesus. There's this idea of becoming less of what I used to be before Christ and more of what he is changing and transforming me into and this process is ever going on. Colossians is written in an interesting. There's a about this time not too long after this Colossians that which lies in a valley called the like this Valley near the city that you may know of from The Book of Revelation called laodicea. You read all of Colossians, you'll see at clausen's for and also in chapter one and talks about read the book that I sent a Leo to see and also Exchange. In other words, read the letter that I wrote to them, and then you also give this letter to them to read their side-by-side sister cities. Stay Together there. And what's taking place is this is a very fertile ground things grew well there. So would you look with me, if you have your Bibles there in Colossians, when I want you to see this growth, that is embraced within the book of Colossians, because I wouldn't want to show you what is taking place in Colossians 3, Colossians 1:6. When it says this this gospel, at the end of rospide has come to you it as indeed in the whole world. It is bearing fruit and growing and almost what it says about clashes as it also doesn't on you. So fruit and growth is taking place, since the day, you hurted, an understood the grace of God and truth and that he prays for them in Colossians chapter 1, verses 9, and 10. Listen to this prayer that points again to this growth in this maturing. And so from the day we heard we have not ceased to pray for you. Asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding pay attention. These words filled wisdom knowledge understanding. So as to walk in a manner, worthy of the, Lord fully pleasing him. Look at this again. Fruit bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. The idea for these Colossians was that they were to be bearing fruit like this. And we see this, even in Colossians chapter 2, look with me in Colossians 2 verses, 6 & 7 therefore as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walking him rooted. Built up in him and established in the faith just as you were taught abounding in Thanksgiving.

Can I say to us the the desire of Paul amongst of Colossians amongst all that you're essentially comes back then to the end of Colossians, 1 verse 28 him. We Proclaim. Speaking of Jesus warning, everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom that we may present everyone mature in Christ. And so the goal here is this We are as we come to Faith in Jesus Christ. We enter into the kingdom of his light. We leave the kingdom of darkness. The anticipation is is that we are going to continue to abound and grow and mature and bear fruit.

There's going to be a full nurse that comes in here. There is going to be an overflowing abundance. That takes place.

How do you see why? We look at things where we think that were Rich today, and we're going to come to this word Rich. Why, when we might look at our bank accounts to see you richness. God never men measures richness by how much money you have. Never ever.

Think of Jesus as he's there at the temple and all the rich Pharisees are coming by, and they're making their coin ring, as it drops into the look at this. Along comes the Widow and all she has is her last penny for 2.

She's ignored. She gives everything.

Almost hear the echo. Of David. A man. After God's Own Heart.

I struggle for example, putting songs before us, like, I surrender all because we so often sing that song, we don't really mean it, but that would all did that day. All to Jesus, I surrender all to him. I freely give

She out of the richness of our hearts. and not a lot of her checkbook or wallets a portfolio gave

How do we consider ourselves rich?

What makes you be able to say? Iron role in richness.

Well, if it's the market right now, you kind of squeezing and praying that something happens to the Ukraine and that the oil wells pick back up and that 401k my 403b. You know, turns around and things. Okay, but when we come to Colossians chapter 3, I want you to see this. He uses these words in verse 16. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.

What the word of Christ dwell to take up residence within you to be that which is the economy of the heart of your whole entire being and your life and you say all that I Need Is Christ in his word all that I ever want all that I could ever have is that I desire to be rich and satisfied with their brings me, contentment and true. Joy is found in Christ and in his word.

You see? As we come here at Valley View to seeing these things. One of the things that we, we try to bring to the Forefront, is that, as we seen our theme of our purpose for a church. We say a live by God's grace Living For His glory. That's our purpose to living. Our thing comes from the book of Psalms. Someone. In fact, verse three were says he shall be like a tree planted by streams of water. That yields its fruit in season in whose Leaf does not wither whatever he does succeeds or prosperous.

You and I are called the fruit Bears. We're called to be those that, as we proclaim. The Jesus is Lord. The word of Christ dwells richly in Us. In all wisdom. I want to point out to you, a couple things to keep in mind. That take place in our translations in this is sometimes worse. Help folded compare translations.

It's hard. Sometimes to translate versus like this and I want to point out something to you. The question really is to be begged in this mess, passage from the original text in the Greek. If the word that we have here of Teaching admonishing one. Another is where the word of Christ dwells in this richly. And is singing connected, the Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs or the teaching and admonishing.

Reality is it can be both? In other words, hear me the word of Christ the walls and especially how and it gives us three things here teaching and admonishing and singing.

Now I think that all three are equivalent to one another. They have the same purpose and they have what should become the same outcome as we approach it from the use of these means, let me give you what these words mean, quickly. First of all, we have left the word of Christ dwell in you richly. And then we say, how does that take place in? The first one is by teaching. This is where there is mutual teaching. There's instruction. This is one another teaching by the way. This is not just sitting and listening to a lecture. Can be in a place like what we are right now. We're one in the teaching the others, but there's Mutual instruction and knowledge. In the purpose, for this knowledge is to know Christ. It is to experience him. Secondly, it is for this purpose of teaching and admonishing one. Another. We don't like to use the word admonish too much because when we get admonished by our grandparents when we get it, admonished by her parents, or a teacher or coach, it means often that they're trying to point out. Something about a said, it's not right right. Now, that is to be corrected and remedied. It really goes to. Speaking of what we see in the beginning, passage here of Colossians 3, put off so that you can put on you once were this. Now become this. And yet it's necessary, because we cut become, so enamored with ourselves absorbed in ourselves that we need that encouragement that admonishment from one another, to be able to stay continue to be conformed to the image of the Sun.

And then thirdly singing. Singing. Is this idea of making music? Singing The Words, If you will, we have here, let the word of Christ dwell in you richly. And yet, at the same time. It's the beauty of being able to make a song.

This week I was outside with a friend on the phone. The friend, didn't said there's a lot of birds singing in the background.

Because God's creation cannot help make a medley.

It's beautiful.

And if his bird sing. Should we not as those Made In His Image? Also burst forth and song.

I mean, think of all the different ways that you can sing. You can go way back to the old form, the chance, which is really become hip hop today. Okay, hip hop, is nothing is new. Under the Sun, hip-hop and rap is just chanting, done in a different way, and action actuality. A lot of the Psalms is not with the sermons about, but a lot of the Psalms fit really well to a hip hop beats. If you want to see that, just listen to an artist like Shai Linne. Not to us, not to us but to your name, be the glory. It works really well. So modern 15. You've never listened to shilin treat yourself to this theology.

You're going to have that idea of chanting a can have that idea, beautiful broke music. I mean broke music Keys even say that I hope you love your husband Johann. Sebastian Bach as much as I do, I think about he is gorgeous.

I can be the hymns of the 17th 18th and 19th centuries. All of these things are blessings unto us. It can be the hymns of the early church that we sing some of those we sing at once. And and also during the season of Advent all glory laud and honor is one of those ancient hymns. That we do not sing as much today. O, come O, come Emmanuel.

Ransom captive, Israel songs that are thousands of years old.

but the reality is, Regardless of the means and the methodology of the tune and most of the time. By the way, it seems as though what would be considered at the time to be the music of the full. We sometimes call at the folk music.

That becomes the best means of contributing to it. So a lot of the songs that we sing in our him know, the tune originated from a folk song that was first sung and then was redeemed with new words.

What Child Is? This is one of those that uses a tune called Greensleeves.

But what is so prominent? If we look at it? Is the content of the words of which we sing? And here, caught in the middle between teaching admonishing and singing. Are these three categories of Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. What is meant by this? And what do they belong to does? It the songs, hymns. And spiritual songs. Vol belong to singing, or does it belong to teaching and admonishing? I'd say, yes, all the above even though it's in the middle of the mall, with the idea is, is this is that The Words, which we sing. Also should be teaching a Define admonishing, building assault and I want to give you a real good glue to music. If music does not build you up. Then I'm not making a divided right now between sacred and secular. I'm just asking you wherever you put the dial on the station. Just ask is this drawing. My heart unto Christ or is this drawing my heart to the kingdom of darkness?

There's a lot of songs of my childhood that I listen back to, and I go man. Those are great Tunes, but horrible, horrible lyrics. How did I not hear them back? Then? You have to go like that tune. But, you know, is just how can you improve on it out on the highway to hell? I'm on the highway to hell. Why should I be thinking about the highway to hell? I want to be at the Gate of Hell. I'm even rescuing people from that path.

It's older has to become that foolish. No choice where I have to be admonished. I have to be taught in the idea. Here's with singing is that a brings a richness of whom God has. And so it begins to lose category of Psalms. Psalms literally mean the book of Psalms in here is the one really bad thing about the church that I think is being remedied. You'll see it. I think in the next decade or so you're going to see more and more of the Psalms come to life within the church because people are tired of the fluff that has been offered. And there is being more and more artists that are taking the song Seriously and putting them to music. If you're interested in seeing someone do that. Well, I highly recommend you go on YouTube and listen to the sons of Korah, their Aziz, that know what they're doing their great musicians and they put the Psalms from the beginning to the end and they're just beautiful. You'll never hear them on the radio because the song is way too long. But you see, they have YouTube channels with the sons of Korah cuz you can look at that on your phone right now. Nothing else don't play a game. But if you need to put that on right now, you can do that. With the idea is that the Psalms are given to us and what are the songs, do? They express all the emotions in all the circumstances of Life, all the way from praising God, to being at the pit of sorrow and Mourning. My God. My God. Why have you forsaken me? Jesus on the cross was singing a song unto his father. Why have you forsaken me? And it was kind of like, the people that were sitting at the base of the Cross. We're able to say it was just like, when you hear row, row row your boat, you can finish the rest of the song and they're thinking.

I do believe this Department's.

He's fulfilling this. Read Psalm 22 side-by-side with a crucifixion, you'll see this. Not accidental.

And the songs are rich. And they bring our hearts unto the Lord. But don't you also find with them and that teaching and admonishing category? We don't have the recorded Tunes, David didn't have an MP3 recorder at the time. We don't know what they sound like.

Some of them say to the tune of this, which we have no clue, even then. But the words are inspired and kept for us. And they teach and admonish us.

The second category is hymns. The idea here are anthems that. Bring praise unto God. They bring our attention unto Christ. You can be anything all the way from a song. How old is the ones that we sing? His Mercy is more, is a beautiful modern him. Another beautiful modern him is in Christ alone. My hope is found. He is my strength and song, This Cornerstone, this Solid Ground. From to the fiercest storm. And yet you can go back in history and, and sing the songs. All Mighty, powerful, God. Praise the Lord, the Almighty, the king of creation. All Creatures of our God and King lift up your voice, and sing. Hallelujah. I can't sing that about my girlfriend. My wife. I'll send you my wife, but I'm not going to sing her that song because that song only can be song under one.

And it's a beauty that comes with these spiritual songs, had this idea of being in a song that has a spiritual element that it can be almost any of genre thing. It sometimes can be a song that is more of a story. It could even be like the song, we're going to sing at the end today in. Tenderness. You sought me. Telling the story of weary and sick with sin o. The love. That bought me all the grace that brought me back to the fold of God. And here's the beauty of these things, is that this is the wisdom, the knowledge, and understanding that we are to be richly filled with it as the soil, as it is there in that valise, Valley of the lycus valley, the seeds of knowledge and understanding, their taking root and growing, and producing fruit in my heart, in my life, and in my soul. And it's more than just entertainment in a way to draw people into the church. Is the people of God singing praises to their creator in the Redeemer? And you might ask. Why should I do that?

That's a great question. Why should I when I come to church engage myself and sing Shawn? Don't you know, I can't sing. Son. Don't you know that I struggle with my voice? I don't care if you can't carry a tune in a bucket. Make a Joyful Noise. That means more than that. I understand that totally understand but you get what I'm saying. If you are a part of the redeemed and elect of God. There should be a song in your heart.

I want to say this to you. Just look at the Psalms first of all and see the commands over and over again, Make a Joyful Noise unto the Lord, all the Earth, serve the Lord with gladness Psalm 100. Psalm, 96 sing unto the Lord a new song. But today, I want to give you the greatest reason to sing. Go in a couple minutes longer here than I usually do and I want you to see this because when you see this, it's going to open your eyes.

I want to bring back to Colossians and see this. We are being conformed in this book. Him. We Proclaim becoming mature in Christ, being conformed, to the image of his son. In other words, the greatest thing that can happen to us in this life. As we await, the fullness of God's kingdom is to continually be conformed to the image of Jesus. You ready for this? When it comes to singing? Jesus is God.

He's the son of God. He is perfect. He carries all the attributes. He is equal with the father with the spirits. I and the father are one.

The Triune God and yet. Do you know what Jesus does here in his life here on Earth as he's in the upper room with his disciples in Matthew 26 and Mark 14. In both places in him being the Son of God. He's leading the disciples in singing A Hymn.

By the way, their songs are so rich that he where he was probably singing was from the sports in the. Psalms Psalm 114 to Psalm 118 right before the big granddaddy 119. That was the song book of the Egyptian. What recalled? The Egyptian halals Hallelujah has these were the songs of them being redeemed that they would sing as they journeyed up to Jerusalem. They would sing the song so long with the Psalms of ascent, but they sing these remembering the Passover. They're called the Egyptian. Hallelujah is, if you will. The very last one is this. So, I'm 118 the stone that the builders rejected has become the Cornerstone.

I'm not being bitten. Jesus saying,

With his disciples.

Hebrews 2 speaks of Jesus being the one who says this. He's singing over his disciples and he says this, I will tell you of your name to the brothers. This is one of Jesus quoting, Psalm 22 verse 22, I will tell if your names of the brothers in the midst of the congregation. I will praise you. Participating with us. Singing to the father. In other words, Jesus, even though he is equal with the father in his human form, is singing unto the father with us. Every that is so for Jesus. Should it not also be a boss.

One other place speaks of Jesus singing in Romans chapter 15.

He's quoting Psalm 18. In says this for this I will praise you. A Lord among the Nations and sing to your name. You singing with the brothers Christ, the Victorious. When Christ, Our Victor is causing us recognized as we sing these praises. The world around is called the Gentiles. In this text hear the Praises of God. Like it is in Psalm 96 and they sing out unto the Lord and exalt the Lord in the midst of the people, and all the people go. Woah.

Can you give contacts to that? Why is it important for you? And I to sing? I'm going to give you the last one here in the moment from the book of Zephaniah, but I want you to see this before we get there. As we the people of God as unbelievers would come and walk in with us. In other words, if you're here today and you don't know, Jesus as Lord and Savior yet. We get it while you're not singing yet. That's okay, and you're the perfect place. But if you know the name of Jesus this morning and he is your lord and your savior. You have nothing, you are rich. You have nothing to worry about in life and in death and there's a joy Upon Our Hearts to be able to sing the Praises of God. In the result. Is this the unbeliever sitting among the Believers go? I don't know if I believe that stuff yet, but man. Do they are they certainly grounded in it and do they rejoice in it?

And they are caught up in the Praises of their God.

Psalm. Let me just do this really quickly. You might have to help. There we go. Deaf and I have 3 verse 17. Listen to this, the Lord, your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save. He sing of, speaking of the Messiah Will Rejoice over you. With gladness, it goes on. Can you flip that for me? Please at me and I don't know if you have the control or not.

We're dealing with some technical difficulties.

There we go. He will quiet you by his love. He will exalt over you. With loud, singing.

The Lord sings over us.

So why should we wait for the rocks to cry out?

Cuz that's what Jesus said. If we don't sing. The rocks will cry out. I don't know about you, but I want to someday. See that rock concert. But I also don't want to be the dumb one sitting there at that rock concert because I wasn't singing.

We have much to praise the Lord for

and so, we become what we sing. The scriptures that are sufficient that speak of Christ of us being in the image of God, that speak of the authority are the words by which we sing of our faith in what we desire to practice. So that we could says in Isaiah 6, fill the Earth with his glory.

So we can sing in our hardships in our Good Times.

On Trials, various kinds. We can sing unto the Lord.

So some of the things that were working toward as we go along, here is this is that just like we call ourselves three BECU. There's also Three Ages and when we sing it should also include this and everything are had our part in our hands. It should engage all of us in our being. Some of the things that recently has covid-19 through and I began to see the crisis of faith for us, and I saw how the world was tightening down upon us. There's something I did. And you probably picked up on it. We've done it ever since every Sunday, we sing the doxology.

Unlike. I need to watch my obscene talk right now, okay? I would like the world puts the screws down. We're going to praise God, from whom all blessings flow.

And the church. I know for those of you that are older youth. Here's the problem that you might have with church right now, is this You hardly have sung the song long enough to know it by heart.

Not hopefully being here in Valley View. That's a little bit different. Our goal is to have about just to let you know, our purpose is to choose about 60 songs. We sing for a week. I wish we could sing more. I would love to sing 20. You don't have the voices to do that, but I would, I think singing is a wonderful thing as we praise the Lord. The reason we say, we're going to choose it down to 6275 songs. Is this if we do that, that means we have opportunity to sing those songs within our worship on an average of about four times a year. If we're going to really memorize these things and know them by heart, we have to sing him at least that often. And so, we can't just be singing, eyeball songs, all the way along, and my son's, keep me in check, when I introduce new songs to us. But the idea is listen here. I want you to have God's word memorized in the words that you sing. I want you to have good theology tucked into your brain because of the words that we sing I care for you. As a pastor that, I just don't want to give you fluff to sing. I want you to have meat to chew on. That you can sing it in your car. And if this would be great, if someone would take all the songs that we sing in church and help me with this, and put it on a Spotify playlist. You can just about do that today. That we could share with the church to be able to say these are the songs that we sing. These are the things that bring us unto the Throne of God and we looking are intentionally continuing to look for healthy songs of the past and also of the present at bring us to this.

And yes, if you've noticed recently, I put the doxology with notes up on the page that even though 90% of us don't know how to use those yet. Because eventually here's my goal that would be able to sing in parts and Harmony and you want to talk about the unity of the body coming together. I see the musicians around this right now. Right now, being you for working. Heaven, is when we can sing parts. And come from our different places in unity and blend. With the prices of God.

I could go on the church has to be a Centre of Music teaching and training musicians. If you are musicians, I wish you would come and utilize the church to teach others how to sing, how to play instruments, how to enjoy and Delight in. What God created for his glory? To exalt him. And yes, we do. Here's the beauty of it. It'll X. The word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom. Teaching admonishing and singing, Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. You become what you sing.

What rings in your heart?

Oh, father, that Jesus would be exalted in our lives.

Oh, that Christ. Would be the mouthpiece.

That is declared in our presence. May we hunger and thirst for him. Jesus. We love you. And we are so grateful for your mercy and your grace and your forgiveness. Is there about to sing? The tenderness, the law that brought us back to Christ back to God into the fold of God. We rejoice in you. So let the word of Christ dwell in US, richly. As we sing in all wisdom and you be exalted in God's people said OG stand.
