1 Kings 22:10-23
!
Introduction
We are living in a day and time when people have been made to believe that God's Word is fleeting and changing and never constant when it comes to them.
They sincerely believe that someone's word about God is as adequate as the Word of God.
So when someone says that God is not going to hold this against you, they are apt to believe what they are told rather than what is written in the Word of God.
And many times people have good intentions but not good information.
Which is why if what you are being told is not found in the Word of God, your responsibility is to live by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
The Bible says, */Let every man be a lie, but let God be the truth!/*
!
Everyone Is Not A Prophet Sent From God
Ahab was surrounded by prophets, but they were prophets for hire, not those that were called to speak the word of the Lord.
A true prophet from God is going to speak the Word of the Lord that is given from God and not believe that just because they speak a word that it weighs on God.
God does not follow your leading, your follow his!
* The prophet is an agent who is to speak as God moves upon him to give to the people a word that they would otherwise not hearken to.
#. which is why the prophet had to live a life pleasing, because he had to be right to give the people a word from God to the intent that they would listen to him.
* But Jesus warns that there would be false prophets in the land, but be not deceived by them.
#.
God gives command in the Book of Deuteronomy 13:1-3 says that there are false prophets who would speak a false word.
But God says to go not after them.
For the way you handle them will show whether or not you love the Lord.
#. but we are living in a time now where everyone wants a word.
#. don't go after them, and don't get caught up in just wanting to hear smooth things.
#. because God is a holy God and He sends His Words in righteousness and holiness.
#. and it won't be a blessing word all of the time.
!
The Danger of Not Accepting What God Has Already Said
The danger inherent in the story is that Ahab knew that he had false prophet who would prophesy for favors.
* But his downfall was that he knew he was being lied to, and still wouldn't adhere to sound judgment.
#. and there are times when inspite of what God has already said, we want to have a different verdict.
#. but God says what He meant and meant what He said.
#. and if you are not careful, while you are trying to get what you want, you might be a victim of a lying spirit.
