LAST WEEK— BE HOPEFUL or HOPE FILLED!
Before we move on, Let’s Talk about Our HOPE in Christ.
Colossians 1:27 The Message
God wanted everyone, not just Jews, to know this rich and glorious secret inside and out, regardless of their background, regardless of their religious standing. The mystery in a nutshell is just this: Christ is in you, so therefore you can look forward to sharing in God’s glory. It’s that simple. That is the substance of our Message.
Colossians 1:27 ESV
To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
Isaiah 12:2 NLT
See, God has come to save me. I will trust in him and not be afraid. The Lord God is my strength and my song; he has given me victory.”
Exodus 15:2 ESV
The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.
Habakkuk 3:18 NLT
yet I will rejoice in the Lord! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!
So, what is your Story?
Is Jesus your HOPE?
What does your HOPE look like?
How did you come to this Saving HOPE?
Be Filled with the Spirit
Main Idea
To lead us into the Spirit-filled life that God desires for us.
God has a plan for our salvation.
He planned for it to be a free gift to us, but that’s just the beginning of our spiritual journey.
God has MORE for us.
He wants to empower us to pursue that “more” through relationship with the Person of the Holy Spirit.
Now, more than ever, we need God’s power in our lives.
Let’s seek Him,
go all in with Him, and
live the full life God planned for us.
Make It Practical
1. Remove the barriers that keep you from all the Holy Spirit has for you.
We tend to avoid what we’re afraid of or what we don’t understand, but everything God has for us is good.
2. Ask God to give you all that He has for you.
All that we have is not all that God has. He has more for us!
3. Develop an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit.
Trust that He will comfort, guide, and convict you as you get close to Him.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you...” Acts 1:8 NIV
Talk About It
1. Have you misunderstood or been confused by role of the Holy Spirit in the past?
What is one hesitation you may have about the role of the Holy Spirit.
Could you encourage someone to pursue a Spirit-filled life.
2. Have you received the baptism of the Holy Spirit?
If so, How has a relationship with the Holy Spirit changed your life?
If not, What Barriers are holding you back?
3. What barriers may be keeping you from all God has for you?
Discuss what you need to lay down so you can pursue the “more.”
“THE CONDITION OF LIVING A POWER-FILLED LIFE IS BEING FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT.”
Prayer
Father, we thank You for salvation.
Give us courage today to step into the deeper things You have for us.
We break down any barriers and reject any fears that may be keeping us from getting close to You.
We want all You have for us, and we invite You into every part of our lives.
Holy Spirit, fill us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Leader Tips
Be mindful that this week’s topic may be a little confusing or uncomfortable for your group members. That’s okay!
Encourage the group that God has “more” for them and that everything He has for them is good!
