Introduction
Have you ever had deja vu?
When you have this feeling like you have already seen or done something before but you know logically it hasn’t happened yet?
Remember when Jesus told His disciples they will be witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the end of the earth?
Acts 1:8 (ESV)
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
And then this happened?
Saul is starting to destroy the church
Acts 8:1–2 (ESV)
And Saul approved of his execution.
And there arose on that day a great persecution against the church in Jerusalem, and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.
Devout men buried Stephen and made great lamentation over him.
Saul’s persecution is what dispersed the disciples to Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the Earth
Let’s quickly look at what the disciples did in Judea...
Judea
The Gospel has been proclaimed in Judea already, and continues to be preached.
Judea is the region that the capitol of Israel, Jerusalem exists.
This is the region in which Peter has been preaching and Stephen has preached and soon Peter and Paul will both preach.
We will visit Judea again in a minute.
Let’s follow the disciples over to Samaria...
Samaria
Philip took what Stephen had started and spread out to Samaria to preach the Gospel
Acts 8:4–8 (ESV)
Now those who were scattered went about preaching the word.
Philip went down to the city of Samaria and proclaimed to them the Christ.
And the crowds with one accord paid attention to what was being said by Philip, when they heard him and saw the signs that he did.
For unclean spirits, crying out with a loud voice, came out of many who had them, and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed.
So there was much joy in that city.
Judea, again...
Saul returns to share the Good News in Jerusalem while Peter shares the Gospel message to individuals in Lydda and Joppa.
Missionary to the World
Acts 9:15 (ESV)
But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel.
