Tempted and Tried

Mark 1:12–13 CSB
12 Immediately the Spirit drove him into the wilderness. 13 He was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and the angels were serving him.
Why is this Important
Jesus was not only 100 percent God he became 100 man in order to truly become our sin bearer.
He not only identified with mankind and his sin through physically being baptized in John’s baptism
Mark and other Gospel writers are showing us that he literally identifies with us through literally experiencing temptation and suffering as a man.

Spirit Led and Spirit Filled

Mark 1:12 CSB
12 Immediately the Spirit drove him into the wilderness.
Mark 1:13 CSB
13 He was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and the angels were serving him.
Luke 4:1–2 CSB
1 Then Jesus left the Jordan, full of the Holy Spirit, and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness 2 for forty days to be tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and when they were over, he was hungry.
Filled With The Spirit is the 3rd person actively demonstrating the Power of God.

Being Filled of the Indwelling Spirit

Acts 2:4 CSB
4 Then they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them.
Acts 4:8 CSB
8 Then Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit and said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders:
Acts 11:23–24 CSB
23 When he arrived and saw the grace of God, he was glad and encouraged all of them to remain true to the Lord with devoted hearts, 24 for he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And large numbers of people were added to the Lord.
Barnabas
Example of Walking in the Spirit (Galatians 5) is really a demonstration of God’s power in Our Life

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control.

25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit

Tempted Yet Without Sin

Hebrews 4:15 CSB
15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin.
Christ’s temptation in the Wilderness demonstrates this to us.

The First Adam:

Romans 5:12 CSB
12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, in this way death spread to all people, because all sinned.

The Last Adam

Romans 5:15 CSB
15 But the gift is not like the trespass. For if by the one man’s trespass the many died, how much more have the grace of God and the gift which comes through the grace of the one man Jesus Christ overflowed to the many.
John 1:12–13 CSB
12 But to all who did receive him, he gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in his name, 13 who were born, not of natural descent, or of the will of the flesh, or of the will of man, but of God.
