Spiritual Gifts – The Speaking and Serving Gifts I. The Complete Listing of Gifts 1 Corinthians 12:8–10, 28 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 28 And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. The Serving Gifts A. Faith 1. All Christians are called to live by faith. The gift of faith is often seen in prayer for God’s intervention despite circumstances that appear to be hopeless. B. Helps/Ministering (Serving) 1. The person with the gift of ministering or helps is disposed/compelled to engage in a ministry of aiding, supporting, and helping others. This frees the person being helped to engage in their primary gifting. C. Giving 1. The God-given ability and desire to discern needs, how those needs can be met, and then utilize the resources needed to meet them. Ephesians 2:20 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 2 Corinthians 12:11–12 11 I have become a fool in boasting; you have compelled me. For I ought to have been commended by you; for in nothing was I behind the most eminent apostles, though I am nothing. 12 Truly the signs of an apostle were accomplished among you with all perseverance, in signs and wonders and mighty deeds.
