John 1:29–34 (NASB95) — 29 The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! 30 “This is He on behalf of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.’ 31 “I did not recognize Him, but so that He might be manifested to Israel, I came baptizing in water.” 32 John testified saying, “I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He remained upon Him. 33 “I did not recognize Him, but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me, ‘He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon Him, this is the One who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.’ 34 “I myself have seen, and have testified that this is the Son of God.”
No one expects a Lamb for a deliverer, a hero, a savior.
Imagine a desperate fight. You are faced with overwhelming odds a massive enemy to your few. the enemy is marching forward and it looks the end. It is as dark as dark as can be. You are looking for a hero to emerge to save the day it is the last moment of the attack. It is last moment for the hero to come and save the day.
And then all of a sudden from up on the hill comes the rescue. But it is not a Mighty Warrior armed with a sword with a mighty army that he is leading forward against our enemy to save the day. It is a Lamb, not even fully grown. that scurries over the hill bahhing as it runs along this way and that.
“this is our hero!’
“This is our Savior!”
Are we disappointed?
The enemy stops and laughs uproariously.
Is our hope, in the midst of the mockers, shattered?
Come Save me this day, Little lamb. the enemy is bold and strong and the battle is desperate. Oh little Lamb save me from my enemy.
There comes a pause in the battle as the enemy continues to laugh at us few who look upon this little Lamb for deliverance.
No, big deal says the enemy as they mock and laugh at their opponents that are sicking a little lamb at them.
No, consequence at all as the enemy allows for this little lamb the hope of Salvation to put on the alter to be slain. Matter of a fact the enemy is so kind as to do the sacrificing. But then again who is actually placing the lamb on the alter?
what the enemy did not realize was the victory that was to come from that alter.
1 Corinthians 2:1–8 (NASB95) — 1 And when I came to you, brethren, I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. 3 I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling, 4 and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God. 6 Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are mature; a wisdom, however, not of this age nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away; 7 but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory; 8 the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they had understood it they would not have crucified the Lord of glory;
Oh, all that the enemy had put this little lamb through, for the sake of destroying the last ounce of hope that lie in those who were looking for a Savior.
Isaiah 53:1–12
The enemy without care or a concerned bashed and bruised this innocent Lamb. They beat him severally and even more so than a common criminal. None would show the least bit of mercy as they gladly released every bit of energy to crush this little lamb, to make it suffer. and when it did not cry out they beat it harder and harder even disappointed when not a word came from his mouth.
Promised who smote you when came the voice of the guard to a blind folded little lamb as a fist pounded into the side of the face. and then another. Oh how all laughed as they put a rob on this little lamb and crushed down a crown of thorns down upon his head.
In all of their amazement none of the tormentors could recognize not the danger that this little lamb was in but how close to their own suffering if the wrath of this Lamb was awakened in a moment and instead of a Lamb the Lion of Judah leaped forward and devoured them with one might sweep. But as it were they tortured this harmless lamb, it escaped them that this little lamb will be either their own Salvation or their defeat. No one, but no one could imagine that there is coming a victory that would be declared the very moment that this lamb announced while still on the alter
“IT IS FINISHED”
Isaiah 53:1 (NASB95) — 1 Who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
Has been revealed by a mighty warrior and His Armies?
has it been revealed by great armament tanks and warplanes smart weapons?
how many in their desperate hour looks to the Lamb and says
“Save me!”?
How many in this world where evil is on the move embolden by the silence of the Lamb to stomp out the light. to overrun the meek and the helpless?
How many still have not gotten the message of the victory that had been accomplished by the lamb on that Hill called Calvary.
How many have dismissed finding their hope in the Lamb and are desperately searching for something else to rescue them from the evils of this world? and from the final destruction that will come to the world?
The world is still laughing and mocking the Lamb.
and they will continue to do so.
as the grace commodity of time continues some are seeing the Lamb for what He is and hailing his victory and putting their hope in the lamb.
while others laugh and mock and persecute those dumb idiots who declare victory in the lamb.
Is there coming a moment when the world will see the folly of its ways?
will there come a time when the Lord will say,
“Enough!”
Revelation 5:1–13
John the Baptist must have taught so much concerning the kingdom.
Repent for the Kingdom is at hand.
So many were coming to be baptized for the remission of sin that they might put behind them the guilt and the shame for their iniquities.
Coming out of the water people would hug and rejoice that another bother sister mother father had repented and was baptised. but what was the reaction when John introduced their KIng?
Behold, your Savior.
Behold the one that is the one who will be baptised in, by the spirit that will free you from the slave market of sin. there is your passover Lamb. What you will do in regards with faith in that lamb will determine whether that death angel will visit you or fly over over.
who follow Jesus with that announcement?
Apparently no one on that first day.
but there was coming a second announcement.
Whose your hero? Whose your Savior? whose your God?
Is it the Lamb?
