Matthew 5:21-32: The Heart, The Law, and Divorce

God looks on the heart. Feed on the spiritual man. The heart of the matter is the matter of the heart.

Proverbs 4, 23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Is there any fruit on the tree? Matthew 7, 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Abortion is murder. Matthew 5, 21 Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment.

Anger is justified when God’s honor is at stake. [Matthew 5, 22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire]. Raca means expression for contempt. There are degrees of punishment in hell. Jesus will judge accordingly.

Take care of it right now. Be the bigger person. Ephesians 4, 26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

To be Spirit-filled we cannot have sin in our lives. We need the power of the Holy Spirit. It is impossible to live the Christian life without the power of the Holy Spirit.

Be careful of your eyes. Looking, lusting, the act. Matthew 5, 28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Avoid sexual sin. James 1, 13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

The Word of God will keep you from sin. Sin will keep you from the Word of God.

Galatians 5, 15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.

The heart has always been the problem. Jeremiah 17, 9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
