We have spoken about the need for the disciples of Jesus Christ to learn Him. We learn Christ of course by intaking and immersing ourselves in the Scriptures. In fact, just last week, Pastor Barry preached from John 8:31-32 about Jesus’ teaching to his disciples to continue in Christ’s word, to know the truth, and be set free by it.

But what I’ve found and am finding more and more in our days is that there is a profound illiteracy of the Scriptures. Many Christians can read their translations well enough, but unfortunately, many of them do not understand what they are reading.

And so, today, in the first of a two-part message within our “Disciples R Us” series, I want to show you one of two very different approaches and responses to understanding the Word of God so that you don’t fall into a wrong way of looking at the Bible.
