I Corinthians 13:1-13: Agape Love. This is the love chapter of the Bible.

Agape love is a divine type of love. It takes the power of the Holy Spirit to display this type of love. Agape love is sacrificial love:

I John 4, 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

1 John 4, 9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

1 John 4, 16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

Galatians 5, 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Agape love is love of conscious choice and not motivated by feelings.

2) The Character of Love, vv. 4-7. I Corinthians 13, 4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up. Suffereth long means it burns a long time. Vaunteth not means it does not brag.

3) The Permanence of Love, vv. 8-13. Our hope is anchored to the cross. Hebrews 6, 19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;
