· Romans 10-The Word of Faith Romans 10 Paul once again prays for the salvation of Israel by being a witness for them and in a way making a case for them by mentioning the fact that they have zeal for God but their zeal is not in agreement with the knowledge of God's righteousness; not subjecting themselves to it by trying to establish their own righteousness, disregarding the fact that Jesus is the end of law, so that there would be righteousness for everyone who believes in him. Paul brings to remembrance that those who practice the righteousness of the law have to live by it (which is impossible to keep based on the need of a continual sacrifice for atonement, added comment on my part.)to contrast it to the righteousness based on faith where there is no need to continually question the status of salvation because the Law by reminding them of what they have studied (Deuteronomy 30:12-14) "8 But what does it say? "THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART"-that is, the word of faith which we are preaching," -Romans 10:8 NASB. The word(Jesus/God and you can even go as far as saying the knowledge) is near you; if you have it in your heart you will speak of it and proclaim it and even preach it. Paul goes to clarify the command that IF you confess Jesus as Lord (seriously consider him as your master who directs you) and believe it in your heart that God raised him from the dead( as an atonement for our sins & and has the power to bring the dead to life) you will be saved."10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11 For the Scripture says, "Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame."- Romans 10:10-11 NASB). Paul once again reaffirms what he stated in Roman 9:33 when he referenced Isaiah 8:14 that those who believe in Jesus no matter if they are a child of Abraham or a Gentile will not be disappointed (as it pertains to righteousness, justification and salvation) because the Lord is the same Lord of all (God will remind God regardless of your position or birth) and all of his riches are for those who call on him. Paul brings to attention the prophecy of old in Joel 2:32 "1 For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."" -Romans 10:13 NASB. showing the truth in the word of God and God's faithfulness in his fulfillment of it(God's word never returns void and true as he mentions in Romans 3). He also brings to attention the fact that it's impossible to call on someone you do not believe in, heard off or know; Showing the importance that spreading the Gospel has and commending and reminding them that God commends those who take the Gospel and spread it; even though there will be those who will not believe the voice that spreads it(the workers/hands and feet of God) as stated in Isaiah 53:1 he still expresses that faith(believing in something) comes from hearing of it, and hearing(knowledge) happens by the Word of Christ. This now brings to question if it comes by the knowledge of the word of God then has Israel not heard? Paul goes to point out that in fact they have, as it was written in Psalms 19:4 but as Moses and Isaiah said that they will be made jealous of the fact that those who did not know or seek to know will Find God and his Righteousness because he will manifest himself to them but God has stretched out his hands for and to his Children(Israel) yet they continue to be disobedient and obstinate. " 20 Then Isaiah is so bold as to say, "I have been found by those who did not seek me; I have shown myself to those who did not ask for me." 21 But of Israel he says, "All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people." -Romans 10:20-21 NASB.
