John is instructed to take the scroll from the hand of the Messenger, Revelation 10:8
Revelation 10:8
And the voice which I heard out from the heaven again spoke with me and said, “Go. Take the small scroll, the one open in the hand of the Messenger, the One standing upon the sea and upon the earth.”
The Messenger instructs John to eat the scroll, Revelation 10:9

And I went before the Messenger, while saying to Him, “Give to me the little scroll.” And He said to me, “Take and devour it and it will make bitter your stomach, but in your mouth, it will be sweet as honey”.r mouth.”
Sweet to the mouth, but bitter to the stomach, Revelation 10:10
Then I took the little book out of the angel’s hand and ate it, and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth. But when I had eaten it, my stomach became bitter.

Wormwood, Revelation 8:11
The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the water, because it was made bitter.
How the Message is Received, Ezekiel 3:1-3
Moreover He said to me, “Son of man, eat what you find; eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.” So I opened my mouth, and He caused me to eat that scroll.

The Revelation is Not Over Yet
The Return of Christ (the Messiah) is the sweet part
The realization there is more to come before the events he was seeing

It had to be opened before what is written on the outside could be read

Then I was given a reed like a measuring rod. And the angel stood, saying, “Rise and measure the temple of God, the altar, and those who worship there. But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months.
The Temple is the Tribulation Temple
Going Back to the Middle of the Tribulation (42 months)
The Jews Leave Jerusalem, Luke 21: 24
And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
Israel is scattered into the nations by Rome, 70 A.D. Luke 21:5

Not an indication that the Gentiles will continually rule over Jerusalem
Until the end of the times of the Gentiles
For the last 2000 years the city of Jerusalem has been primarily under the Gentiles
The Man of Lawlessness has been Resuscitated
He was killed in the war with Russia, mid-tribulation, Revelation 13:3

He has destroyed the harlot, Revelation 17:16
And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire.
He claims He is God, 2 Thessalonians 2:4
who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

They Will Prophecy, Revelation 11:3
And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.”
Prophecy is Information Given by God

In the Tribulation God will give Israel New Revelation, Joel 2:28-32

Your young men shall see visions.
And also on My menservants and on My maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days.
“And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth:
Blood and fire and pillars of smoke.
The sun shall be turned into darkness,
And the moon into blood,
Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.
And it shall come to pass
That whoever calls on the name of the Lord
Shall be saved.
For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance,
As the Lord has said,
Among the remnant whom the Lord calls.
Two Olive Trees, Revelation 11:4
These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands standing before the God of the earth.

Two olive trees are by it, one at the right of the bowl and the other at its left.”
They Stand with the Lord as Witnesses, Zechariah 4:5

And I said, “No, my lord.”
These are not The Same Witnesses, but of the Same Type
They Stand to Testify Concerning God
Witnessing Is Not Just For Salvation
They are Jews

John the Baptist was not Elijah, John 1:21
And they asked him, “What then? Are you Elijah?”

“Are you the Prophet?”

They Will Not Be Harmed, Revelation 11:5
And if anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from their mouth and devours their enemies. And if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this manner.
Anyone Even Desiring to Harm them
It is Necessary that they die in this manner
They Are Given Authority Over the Heaven, Revelation 11:6
These have power to shut heaven, so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy; and they have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to strike the earth with all plagues, as often as they desire.

They Have Authority to Turn Water to Blood
During the Time of the Trumpet Judgments
The Second Trumpet will Turn a Third of the Sea into Blood, Revelation 8:8
Then the second angel sounded: And something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood.
Wormwood will also Fall During this time, Revelation 8:11
