John 7:32-39.
John 7:32–39 (NASB95)
32 The Pharisees heard the crowd muttering these things about Him, and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers to seize Him.
33 Therefore Jesus said, “For a little while longer I am with you, then I go to Him who sent Me.
34 “You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come.”
35 The Jews then said to one another, “Where does this man intend to go that we will not find Him?
He is not intending to go to the Dispersion (Dis-pre-sion) among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks, is He?
36 “What is this statement that He said, ‘You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come’?”
37 Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.
38 “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’
”
39 But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
Lets get started
Jesus is Preaching
He is not giving the people what they want to hear
in fact they wan to kill Him
But division has already taken place
Because of the people talking,
Jesus is making strong statements that are challenging them and the people
The people started to question, and not the leadership is seeing that that
So they are attempting seize Him (take Him into custody, to over power Him)
We can almost look at it as the Jews are looking at Jesus as he is inciting a riot.
SO they want to get rid of the source.
v.34-36
You will seek me but not find me
what does mean.
(The Jews are asking the same thing.)
Jesus is saying that there will be a time for the Jew that they will seek Him but he will not be found by them.
Clearly the Jews are misunderstanding Him.
V.35-36
He is not going to go a speak to the Greeks will he?
The Non Jews and the scattered Jews will He?
He is not successful with us, here in the Holy Land, how could he be successful with others?
the Jews at that time view others as (goy) dogs.
They didn’t think much of others.
the Jews just knew that they were the ones.
but remember Matt 3:9
you can claim all you want
hang out at the social clubs
but if you are not in Him….. you are lost
movie example (do business, but we are not family)
The Jews do not understand what Jesus is saying.
Yes the gospel will later be presented to the greeks/Ge
But Jesus is talking about the unbelieving Jew, the unbeliever
right now the Jewish elite do not believe in-Jesus
Jesus is saying there is a time when I will not be near you and you will not find me.
There will be a time when God will not hear the cries.
The Jews don't understand that Jesus will not always be there for them
Lazarus and the Rich man (Luke 16)
there will be a point when God will not be available.
if we reject God in life, and die.
We won’t be able to find salvation

Virgins
v.37-38
Jesus shares that there is still hope for Salvation.
There is still hope!!!!
So now is the time FOR SALVATION
Jesus promises that if you believe in your innermost parts you will have the Holy Spirit
- John talks about the work of the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit had not yet come to the people who believed, but will come.
- the Spirit‘s power was not manifested because Jesus was not at glorified (placed in honor)
- Jesus had not yet finish His work, it was not the Holy Spirit time yet to do His work of redemption.
Luke 11:9-11 ““So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
“For everyone who asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, it will be opened.
“Now suppose one of you fathers is asked by his son for a fish; he will not give him a snake instead of a fish, will he?”
God will give us the Holy Spirit.
As we ask, seek, and knock
a relay race
have you stopped to think that God is working for your salvation?
Father wrote to plan (for His people)
Son executed the plan (to save His people)
Spirit to keep the plan (in the heart of His people)
now is the time.
