So thankful for God's love and his Mercy to us.
I hope you are as well.
See this morning by asking you questions.
Make this a little bit the interactive in participant Tori.
I want you tell me what when you hear like, what what do you think of when you think of when you think of love and your pastor can't just give you that answer and nobody else can say that but if you're watching online, go ahead put in chat and Bill hollowed out for us, but when you think of when you get to work a lot, but what comes to your mind?
Patience.
The happy family.
At work.
I guess a good one truth.
The Lord.
Parts.
Those are all good answers.
Those are all good answers.
And a lot of times when we think about God.
Hopefully we do love is part of what I was thinking about because God doesn't love us as that we sang about this morning and as you'll hear in God's word and hopefully you experience that not just here this morning that you experience all the time.
That long suffering.
So good.
That, that is good with you.
And so,
you know this month being Valentine's Day were going to talk about love but we're also going to talk about the opposite of hate and it's interesting that you said got me thinking about this series several months to go to ask question about Versa, how the New Testament uses the word hate it will but you know that the lord loves But it also talks about several things that the Lord hates.
And so next week, we're talk about love what the lord loves this week.
Next week we can talk about what is the lore take?
And so just when we think about people and you're not steal my thunder from my next week, but this side of Love is important, part of who God is and how we experience him.
But where I was going with that for I got sidetracked, you know, what we do need to know God's love. it was God's love that his love for us, that Call Tim to come himself and lay his life down.
Or my senior Cinema, send all the world whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord.
Should be safe.
But we also need to understand.
That God isn't just love that.
He's holy and because he is a holy God.
He is loving, he's merciful and gracious and all those things.
But he also because of who he is.
Also hate somebody.
And so, we need to remember that.
It is kind of opposite sides of the same coin.
But if you have your Bibles with me, invite you to turn to First, John chapter 4.
1st, John chapter 4, we're going to read verses 7 through 12 this morning.
Set beloved.
Let us love one another.
For love is of God.
And everyone who loves is born of God and knows God, he who does not love, does not know.
God for God is love in.
This is the love of.
God was manifested toward us.
That God has sent his only begotten son into the world that we might live through him.
In this love, not that we loved God.
But rather that he loved us and sent his son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Beloved.
If God, so loved us.
We also ought to love one another.
No one has seen God at any time.
But if we love one, another, God abides in us, and his love has been perfected.
Set, John talks about probably more than any other Bible writer.
Love is a central theme in the Gospel of John.
It's mentioned here in this letter.
Let me call 1st.
John, instead of his writings.
He's called The Beloved disciple.
And so, we learn a lot about love from st.joe.
And one thing that I want to see it, as we were late to this is that God does indeed.
Inside of this morning.
I mention three things that God loves and the first thing that God loves his, God loves people.
That was the Crux of what John was writing to this church or preaching to it.
There's a lot of elements of a sermon here in 1st John at the church that's recorded for us and in written form.
But John understood what love was because he knew Jesus.
And the Bible we need to remember and understand that.
John says you really can't know what gods are.
What Love Is.
Until you know who God is.
And not just that you know who God is but you that you know, him by name.
He knows you, he created you, he knows all about you.
So, that's not the question.
The question is, do you know him?
And that is perhaps the most important question anyone in the universe can answer, but the scriptures.
Loves people.
He loves us so much.
John.
3:16 Says.
Remember God.
So loved the world that he gave his only begotten son.
Whosoever will believe in him and not perish, but have everlasting life.
We find God's love even in the Old Testament.
Don't.
Speak of the Old Testament is just rules and God with a baseball bat, waiting to wamo in the Israelites when they mess up.
We find God's love and God's mercy even in the pages of the Old Testament.
God loves peep.
Out of all of God's creation, that God declared good man.
Kind was his favorite.
It is astray.
And send came in.
To this world.
By that creation that God love more than anything else.
Way back in Genesis in Genesis chapter 3 is.
God pronounces judgement on Adam and Eve and the serpent for their sin.
He holds out this promise of hope the first little glimpse of the Gospel in verse 16 of Genesis chapter.
We since you know what?
Ya Satan you're going to.
Yeah, the Serpent's going to buy it at the heel.
It's a man's going to Stomp The Serpent's head.
So we find there this promise that God is going to fight for his people.
and though, God Took out of me and put him out of the garden.
