Faith is the Victory!
Are You Born of God?
We are at War!
Ephesians 6:10–13 (NKJV)
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
2 Corinthians 10:3–5 (NKJV)
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,
casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
We are No Match for the Devil
The Daily Battle
The Good Fight of Faith
The “bad fight” is one where we allow doubt and unbelief to steal our faith so that we get discouraged, lose our joy, and quit.
What is Faith?
Illustration 1: Faith as a Title Deed
Your uncle in New York has a vintage muscle-car.
You have always dreamed of owning one.
One day he calls and tells you that he will give you the car on your 21st birthday.
Excited, you proceed to tell everyone that when you turn 21 you will be driving your own muscle car.
The uncle’s promise activates your hope.
Some question if the car even exists or if the uncle will actually give it to you.
Two weeks before your 21st birthday, a birthday card from your uncle comes in the mail containing the title-deed to the car.
He informs you that he will be driving the car to your home and present it to you on your 21st birthday.
Do you own the car?
Yes.
Do you have the car?
No. How do you know that you own the car?
You hold the title-deed!
One day the uncle arrives with the car.
You no longer need the title deed to prove the muscle car exists.
It is now sitting in your driveway!
Faith is the substance of “things hoped for”
The “things” spoken of here are the promises of God based upon His word and spoken to you (salvation, healing, provision, restoration, etc.)
Our “hope” is based upon the promises of God.
Faith gives “substance” to our hope.
Faith makes us sure of what we hope for.
Without faith, our hope is just wishful thinking.
Faith brings “hope” into “reality”.
Illustration 2: Tyrannosaurus Rex
One day while digging in your backyard, you uncover a large bone.
Your research convinces you that it is a bone from a dinosaur, the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
This bone is evidence that a Tyrannosaurus Rex lived and walked in your backyard!
Excited you call an archaeologist who tells you it is impossible that a Tyrannosaurus Rex ever existed in your area.
You tell him of the bone.
He comes to your house.
You proceed to show him the bone as evidence.
While examining the bone, a mighty rumbling is heard, and the ground begins to shake.
Suddenly, a two-story Tyrannosaurus Rex appears running toward you out of the woods.
There is no longer the need for the bone as evidence.
A living and breathing Tyrannosaurus Rex is on the scene, and it is time to run!
The Importance of Faith
God works through our faith
Faith makes the impossible possible
It is impossible to please God without faith
Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV)
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Faith is the Victory!
1 John 5:4 (NKJV)
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world.
And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
Jesus won the victory through His death, burial, and resurrection.
Because Jesus has won the victory, we too can have victory in every situation.
Faith takes hold of the promise of God as a title-deed until faith becomes sight.
Regardless of what we face in life, if we face it in faith, we always win!
“When you were born again, you were born to win!” --Adrian Rogers
