Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.
Βλέπετε μή τις ⸉ὑμᾶς ἔσται ὁ συλαγωγῶν διὰ τῆς φιλοσοφίας καὶ κενῆς ἀπάτης κατὰ τὴν παράδοσιν τῶν ἀνθρώπων, κατὰ τὰ στοιχεῖα τοῦ κόσμου καὶ οὐ κατὰ Χριστόν·
Traditions of Men are Used in Transgressing the Law, Matthew 15:3
He answered and said to them, “Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition?

Knowing No One According to the Flesh, 2 Corinthians 5:16
Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer.

How Do We Serve God?
We Have a Seven Day Rest, Not a Seventh Day Rest, Hebrews 4:11
Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.
Σπουδάσωμεν οὖν εἰσελθεῖν εἰς ἐκείνην τὴν κατάπαυσιν, ἵνα μὴ ἐν τῷ αὐτῷ τις ὑποδείγματι πέσῃ τῆς ἀπειθείας.
Israel Did Not Enter God’s Rest, Hebrews 4:3
For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said:
“So I swore in My wrath,
‘They shall not enter My rest,’ ”
although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
Εἰσερχόμεθα γὰρ εἰς [τὴν] κατάπαυσιν οἱ πιστεύσαντες, καθὼς εἴρηκεν·
ὡς ὤμοσα ἐν τῇ ὀργῇ μου·
εἰ εἰσελεύσονται εἰς τὴν κατάπαυσίν μου,
καίτοι τῶν ἔργων ἀπὸ καταβολῆς κόσμου γενηθέντων.
We Do Not Work to Earn Salvation, We Already Possess it, Hebrews 4:10
For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.

The Elementary Principles of the World Have No Value in Godliness
Godliness Comes with Contentment, 1 Timothy 6:5-6
useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself.
Now godliness with contentment is great gain.
διαπαρατριβαὶ διεφθαρμένων ἀνθρώπων τὸν νοῦν καὶ ἀπεστερημένων τῆς ἀληθείας, νομιζόντων πορισμὸν εἶναι τὴν εὐσέβειαν.
Ἔστιν δὲ πορισμὸς μέγας ἡ εὐσέβεια μετὰ αὐταρκείας·
We are to Pursue Godliness, 1 Timothy 6:11
But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.
Σὺ δέ, ὦ ἄνθρωπε θεοῦ, ταῦτα φεῦγε·
δίωκε δὲ δικαιοσύνην εὐσέβειαν πίστιν,
ἀγάπην ὑπομονὴν πραϋπαθίαν.
Even Desiring to Live Godly Will Bring Persecution, 2 Timothy 3:12
Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
καὶ πάντες δὲ οἱ θέλοντες εὐσεβῶς ζῆν ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ διωχθήσονται.
Beware of Those Who Bring a Form of Godliness, But Deny Its Power, 2 Timothy 3:5
having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
ἔχοντες μόρφωσιν εὐσεβείας τὴν δὲ δύναμιν αὐτῆς ἠρνημένοι· καὶ τούτους ἀποτρέπου.
They Teach Law, Galatians 3:1
O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified?
Ὦ ἀνόητοι Γαλάται, τίς ὑμᾶς ἐβάσκανεν, οἷς κατʼ ὀφθαλμοὺς Ἰησοῦς Χριστὸς προεγράφη ἐσταυρωμένος;
They Teach Godliness by the Elementary Principles of the World, Colossians 2:21-22
“Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,” which all concern things which perish with the using—according to the commandments and doctrines of men?
μὴ ἅψῃ μηδὲ γεύσῃ μηδὲ θίγῃς, ἅ ἐστιν πάντα εἰς φθορὰν τῇ ἀποχρήσει, κατὰ τὰ ἐντάλματα καὶ διδασκαλίας τῶν ἀνθρώπων,
They Teach Godliness by Self-Effort, Galatians 3:5
Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.
νυνὶ δὲ ἀπόθεσθε καὶ ὑμεῖς τὰ πάντα, ὀργήν, θυμόν, κακίαν, βλασφημίαν, αἰσχρολογίαν ἐκ τοῦ στόματος ὑμῶν·

Walking According to Who You are In Christ

But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
