Mark 12:29–31 (NKJV)
29 Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. 31 And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

41 Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. 42 Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans. 43 So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; 44 for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.”

Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven. 2 Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.”
For some it was a show; they made a spectacle out of it.

Background:
The Church in Jerusalem had given all they had in the early days of the church to fund the spreading of the Gospel throughout the world.
(Acts 2-10; Acts 4:32-37)
They now found themselves in a place of need and Paul communicates this need to the Gentile church

Means: Financial capabilities
V:43 (NLT)- I tell you the truth, this poor widow has given more than all the others who are making contributions.44 For they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she had to live on
God Doesn’t Measure the amount you put in, but what it costs you
Giving out of abundance

2 Sam 24:24- David was about to make a sacrifice to the Lord and says “I will not sacrifice to the Lord, that which cost me nothing”
2 Corinthians 8:1-4 “1 Moreover, brethren, we make known to you the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia: 2 that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded in the riches of their liberality. 3 For I bear witness that according to their ability, yes, and beyond their ability, they were freely willing, 4 imploring us with much urgency that we would receive the gift and the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.”
V:2- Joy: They had joy because the generous and sacrificial gift of Jesus on the Cross
As he Generously gave we experience Joy
As we generously give others experience Joy
More we see and experience the Love of Jesus through our giving of our time, our talent and our treasure.

Treasure
Freely giving not to a particular project or cause but trusting him with your tithe
We can say that we want to see Him to incredible works in our lives, but until we are willing to take faith filled steps to go all in like the widow, we will be operating in our abundance and ability not His Power.
In giving to God Sacrificially she completely entrusted herself to HIM to provide her all her needs.
He was all In for you
Hebrew 12:2- For the Joy set before him He endured the Cross
Joy- The joy of obtaining the prize
For Him, being in relationship with you is the prize
I know some of you- and I don’t know if I would consider that a prize
Its a Matter of the Heart not the Mite:
Its a matter of the motive that we give

Its a matter of the Heart that we give ourselves entirely to God
