We Don’t See Things as They Should Be
Man was the crowning work of God’s creation, and was to have dominion over all things!
While we are made lower than the angels, yet the angels were not originally given power over the earth.
Things are not as they should be!
The present world does not operate as God intended.
Angels do have dominion because man gave up his dominion.
“we wrestle not against flesh and blood...”
The world is in a state of rebellion against God and regression from God’s good creative order.
But We See Jesus’ Humility
He was made lower than the angels for a time, by taking on human flesh.
John 1:14 “14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
All the angels of heaven worshipped in the day of Creation, they worshipped again when the Creator became one with His Creation.
This is the humility of the Lord Jesus Christ.
We See Jesus’ Humanity
He suffered as a human sufferers.
He has become our brother (v 11-13)!
He is a merciful and faithful High Priest because he knows our infirmity, our weakness, and our temptation.

We See Jesus’ Glory
We see the glory of Jesus displayed upon the cross (9).
It was in suffering that the glory of God was clearly seen.
There the mercy and righteousness of God were displayed.
There the love of God was poured out.
There our Mediator made sacrifice for our sin.
We See Jesus’ Victory
Death has been defeated by Christ.
The Devil and his dominion have been conquered!
