Introduction

Greetings…
We just sang the song “Let The Beauty Of Jesus” and that is exactly what I want us to consider today.
As disciples of Christ there is no greater accomplishment than for someone to “recognize” we are Christians i.e., Christ-like followers.
In the great book of Acts we read this in Acts 4:13.
Acts 4:13 ESV
13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.
We clearly see that Peter and John “stood-out” as Jesus disciples.
How can we “stand-out” as Jesus’ disciples today?
Well as the song says we must, “Let Jesus be seen in our…

Words

Speak The Truth In Love.

As Christians we stand out when we “talk” different than the world.
We don’t use foul language or tell foul jokes.
Ephesians 4:29 ESV
29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
James 1:26 ESV
26 If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless.
We talk to people in a kind and gentle way to everyone.
1 Peter 3:15 ESV
15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,
Colossians 4:6 ESV
6 Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.

Summary

Let the beauty of Jesus be seen in our “words.”
Ephesians 4:15 (ESV)
15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ
Let the beauty of Jesus be seen in our…

Thoughts

As He Thinks He Is.

The great Proverbs 23:7 reminds us…
Proverbs 23:7 NKJV
7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you.
How can we let Jesus been seen in us through out “thoughts?”
It’s simple what goes into our “heads” comes out through our mouth and actions.
Matthew 15:11 (ESV)
11 it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person.

Summary

We must let people see the beauty of Jesus in us through our purity of thoughts.
Philippians 4:8 ESV
8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
Let the beauty of Jesus be seen in our…

Actions

Be Doers Of The Word.

The half-brother of Jesus put it perfectly right, in James 1:22.
James 1:22 ESV
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
If we want others to see Jesus in us, we must be willing to “do the will of God.”
There are a lot of “moral people” in the world.
There are a lot of “friendly people” in the world.
There are a lot of “good husbands and fathers” in the world.
There are not a lot of “disciples of Christ” i.e., “doers of the word” in the world.

Summary

Let the beauty of Jesus be seen in your actions.
From the time you wake up to the time you go to bed let your actions speak for Christ.

Conclusion

Like Peter in John in Acts 4:13, I pray we are living a life that “others realize what we live for Jesus.
That our words, thoughts, and actions reflect our God and that he is worthy of all glory.
Invitation
Isaiah 59:1–2 ESV
1 Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear; 2 but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.
Philippians 2:6–7 ESV
6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
Romans 10:17 ESV
17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
Hebrews 11:6 ESV
6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Acts 17:30 ESV
30 The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent,
Matthew 10:32 NKJV
32 “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.
2 Thessalonians 1:8 ESV
8 in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
1 Corinthians 15:1–4 ESV
1 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,
Romans 6:3–5 ESV
3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
1 John 1:7 ESV
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
