I want my students to start acting in faith, to trust God to take care of them when they do what He has for them.

Act in Faith

Do what you’ve been called to do.
For Ruth, that was just to go to a field and glean
God providentially provided for Ruth. Gleaning was a common practice in Israel. It was the process of picking up the leftovers of wheat and barley, so that the poor could eat. It was actually mandated by God so that the poor and the widows would have access to food. In other nations, those people were persecuted and starved, in Israel (at least in writing) they were taken care of
Deut 24:19-22 ““When you reap your harvest in your field and have forgotten a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it; it shall be for the alien, for the orphan, and for the widow, in order that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. “When you beat your olive tree, you shall not go over the boughs again; it shall be for the alien, for the orphan, and for the widow. “When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, you shall not go over it again; it shall be for the alien, for the orphan, and for the widow. “You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt; therefore I am commanding you to do this thing.”
All Ruth had to do was not give up.
Deut 10:18 ““He executes justice for the orphan and the widow, and shows His love for the alien by giving him food and clothing.”
God provides for the suffering
She did what God had told her to do tirelessly (Ruth 2:7)
Trust God
Ruth had to trust God to go glean
It could have been dangerous
She could have been rejected
She even had to trust God to believe that Boaz wasn’t a liar
So, like Ruth, we need to make the decision to trust in God.

What happens when you act in faith?

You are provided for
Ruth was specially provided for so that she could get enough food.
You are protected
Boaz provides protection for her so that she could be safe
Just so happened
Ruth Just so happened to go to Boaz’ field, it Just so happened that Boaz noticed her, it Just so happened that the worker remembered her, it Just so happened that Boaz was related to Elimelech, etc.
All of these Just so happened aren’t random chance, they are the work of God! Good is always at work.
What could He do for you?
