Point #1: The Apostle John Had a Rich History with Jesus!

Pastor John MacAurther reminds us that the 12 that were called to follow Jesus looked more like a youth group then the men we see depicted at The Last Supper.
Jesus was thirty years old when he began is public ministry...
Jesus’ public ministry lasted three years...
When the twelve were called John was the youngest…
2. The Events that John witnessed in the Life of Jesus...
a. John was there when John the Baptist baptized Jesus in the Jordan river...
i. He heard the voice of God says, this is my Son, whom I love, with Him I am well pleased.
b. He was there when Jesus fed and taught the multitudes...
c. John was there on Mt. of Transfiguration when Jesus’ glory was shown as He met with Moses and Elijah!
d. John was there when Jesus got news that Lazarus was sick and he was there when Jesus went and raised Lazarus from the dead!
e. John was there at the last supper...
f. Jesus washed John’s feet...
g. John was there when Judas departed to betray Jesus...
h. John was there in the Garden of Gethsemane when Jesus was praying...
i. John was there when Jesus was arrested and illegally tried.
j. John was there when Jesus was beaten and presented before Pontius Pilate
k. John was there when Jesus was crucified...
l. John was there when Jesus gave him the charge to take care of his mother Mary.
m. John was there at the empty tomb when Jesus rose from the dead...
n. John was there when Jesus appeared to many witnesses to prove himself alive...
o. John was there when Jesus ascended to the right hand of the Father in Heaven...
These truths are vital because we The Apostle John was an eyewitness to much of what Jesus did and said, thus we can absolutely trust what he writes and what he teaches us!

Point #2: John’s Life Was Transformed by the Love of Jesus; He Couldn’t Stop Teaching About It!

John 5:20 CSB
20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything he is doing, and he will show him greater works than these so that you will be amazed.
John 13:34 CSB
34 “I give you a new command: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another.
John 13:35 CSB
35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
John 15:12–13 CSB
12 “This is my command: Love one another as I have loved you. 13 No one has greater love than this: to lay down his life for his friends.
1 John 2:5 CSB
5 But whoever keeps his word, truly in him the love of God is made complete. This is how we know we are in him:
1 John 3:18 CSB
18 Little children, let us not love in word or speech, but in action and in truth.
1 John 5:2 CSB
2 This is how we know that we love God’s children: when we love God and obey his commands.
