Matthew 28:18–20 CSB
Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

I. Introduction

Mission of DPCC is to make disciples who make disciples to the glory of Christ.

The heart of the great commission as given in Matthew 28:18-20 is to make disciples. So our entire focus here at Disciples Path Community Church is geared toward making and developing disciples in all our worship to our risen and exalted Christ. We want everyone here to be able to develop other disciples as a result of their journey with the Lord and the assembly at Disciples Path.

II. The Declaration of Jesus

Matthew 28:18 CSB
Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.

III. The Priority to Make Disciples

Matthew 28:19 CSB
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

μαθητής (mathētēs). n. masc. disciple, learner. Used of a person who follows after and seeks to learn from another.

The term mathētēs occurs very frequently in the NT. Its fundamental meaning is one who seeks to learn from another. A disciple is not only a partaker of information, but also one who seeks to become like his or her teacher (Luke 6:40).

Disciple Making entails being:

1) Intentional “Follow me”
2) Relational “I will”
3) Missional “make you fish for people”
Matthew 4:19 CSB
“Follow me,” he told them, “and I will make you fish for people.”

IV. The Process of Disciple Making

Matthew 28:19–20 CSB
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

The Prayer of Jesus
John 17:3–8 CSB
This is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and the one you have sent—Jesus Christ. I have glorified you on the earth by completing the work you gave me to do. Now, Father, glorify me in your presence with that glory I had with you before the world existed. “I have revealed your name to the people you gave me from the world. They were yours, you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that everything you have given me is from you, because I have given them the words you gave me. They have received them and have known for certain that I came from you. They have believed that you sent me.

For I passed on to you as most important what I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
