Hold a gift.
Many reasons for giving a gift. Family is required. Seems like nice thing. Some actually are just give givers.
Who in here is a gift giver? Raise your hand. These are the people to get around. haha
I’m not a gift giver. I love gifts, but that’s not me. Sorry if you are waiting for a gift haha.
Sometimes I get nervouse, because I think they might expect one back. then we are locked in for the rest of our life.
There is many reasons to give a gift, but there is one reason that is better than them all.
God gave a gift long ago.
John 3:16b (ESV)
“ he gave his only Son,”
He gave. This was the first gift.
Humans think we give the first gift: we sacrificed crops, etc. Now we give tithes, we don’t watch dirty shows etc.... But those aren’t the first gifts.
God gave us his son. We had nothing to offer in return.
What was the reason then?
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
God so loved the world - Love was the motivation.
This is incomprehensiable! God loved the world. I get loving the mountains, beach, sunsets, etc…But he loved us!
A gift though is only a benefit if its received.
How do we receive this gift? we believe.
It says whoever - are you a whoever? Raise your hand.
Should not perish. That is the punishment for our sin. Death. But God has given us himself. Who is Jesus - Jesus is life and life adubandment. The light was the life of the world!
So let us give back to the Lord our worship, our love and whole self!
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
